I put them on in the morning and was immediately impressed by the comfort and fit. Before the end of the day, I’d already gone online to order a few more pair. Specifically, they are soft, with perfect medium thickness, and they stay in place all day. They also look so much better than cheap dress socks; the groves look more intricate once you put them on, and there’s an elegance to that.I can tell that they are tough and unlikely to develop holes prematurely. I happen to like the high-calf design, but I imagine that that won’t be for everyone.

I’ve bought 3 pairs of these socks so far. The fit is great, they stay up all day and don’t fall down. Some extra care is required l, like washing in a garment bag and hanging to dry but in my opinion it’s well worth the extra effort.I had an issue where the first pair of socks I’d bought started to unravel at the top hem. I reached out to Boardroom’s customer service and received a prompt reply. I really appreciated their response time and the explanation as to why the product was unravelling. Within a week I had 2 socks sent to me as a replacement along with a letter again explaining the issue and apologizing for it. I’ll for sure be purchasing more of these socks!

Wool socks are the best when wearing dress/work shoes all day. These aren’t too thick so they allow my feet to breathe and the elastic seems to be quite durable. I have muscular calves that typically wreck socks but so far that’s not the case with these. The price is about the same for similar items of lower quality so they’re a good value.

These are thin walled and very comfortable. They hug my calves right to the knee crease, and almost feel like compression socks (though not quite so tight).

Purchased for my husband who prefers the longer length socks. The material is soft and not constricting and he says they are comfortable to wear. They arrived ahead of schedule.

I’m an orchestral musician so it’s important that my socks stay up and do their thing without my worrying about them. These are excellent socks.

These are thin dress socks. I purchased a three pack containing olive, khaki, and brown and a three pack containing navy, black and grey. They are all over the calf socks. The fit nicely and stay up all day, with no slipping. They are well made and have withstood several washings so far (machine washed and tumble dried). They are quite comfortable and they look great! If anyone from Boardroom is reading this, I would love to see some thicker, winter weight merino socks.

I want over-the-calf socks for two reasons: 1) to avoid the indentations that crew socks leave on my legs each evening, and 2) to keep me just that little bit warmer in the cold months. The marks are gone. I do have very slight elastic marks just below my knee. They're almost not there at all. And, these socks arrived just as we were plunged into a chilly Central New York autumn. I am pleased to say that the extra coverage does keep me warmer. Not hot at all. Just warm. Just right.Comfort? They're really good. Not perfect. There is an almost imperceptible woolish scratchiness when I first put them on. But, right now, as I sit typing - after wearing them for 9 hours, there is no feeling at all. They're just great.I don't think I'll wear them in the dog days of summer, but I am sure I'll wear them for 8 months out of the year.Would I buy them again? I did. After trying one pair, I bought three more pair. I did say Upstate New York ... it's cold here. I wish I purchased these when I was a young buck and felt that much cozier all my life. At least I discovered them in later life.Don't hesitate. Try a pair out.

Revision 2/5/2022: I bought 6 pairs and found them far less durable than I'd hoped. All have worn out. The heel needs more reinforcement and it needs to extend further toward the middle of the sole. Damn. I apologize to anyone who purchased based on my premature enthusiastic original review. This may be a triumph of hope over experience, but these socks felt like an old friend the moment I slipped them on. I used to buy Byford socks from England, but I can't find them anymore. I tried Pantherella's too, but they were pricey and shearer than those infamous yoga pants. Jeffrie's were laughably small. My go-to socks were from Nordy's but they now usually wear out on the heal before the label has worn off. I think dryer lint is more durable. They weren't always like that. These Boardroom socks stay up all day without being too tight. If you've never tried merino wool, treat yourself. They're soft, warm in chilly weather, and cool when it's warm. I don't see it listed on the label, but I'd say they're at least 1% magic. These are made in the USA! So far, no lint left in my shoes or on the carpet from these. If they wear well, they'll have me for life. I will update this review if they let me down.

I bought this pair of socks for about $20 expecting that it is a high quality item. However, after wearing it for ONE day it was ripped off.

I agree with much of what the other reviewers have had to say about these socks. Wool is a vastly superior material for socks period. Cotton should stick to shirts and jeans. I also believe OTC socks in the dress space are vastly underrepresented, while they are the most practical option. Now it is no secret the the Italians make the most beautiful, softest, and best constructed wool dress sock in the world. If I could afford to purchase 20 pair of dress socks at $40+ a pop I would choose a fine Italian sock for daily wear. Alas I can not so for many years I bought three packs of Lands Ends wool blend OTC dress socks at about the price of a pair of these. If I wore a pair out I simply ordered another three pack. Then they only started including two pair at the same price. Now they are mostly man made materials with too little wool to offer the excellent qualities of the material. What I liked about those socks before they became unwearable was their sturdiness. They were never the fine silky wool of the Italians but they were great workhorse business socks. I have LE socks from 5 years ago that are still in great shape today after weekly wear. These boardroom socks are indistinguishable from those LE socks as far as I can tell. I have not yet washed the BR socks but they are so similar I expect to confuse them with my LE socks. So why four and a half stars? Price. These socks would be a good deal at $10 a pair and a great deal at 2 pair for $16 (w/prime shipping). I will likely buy more provided they hold up to multiple washes as my LE socks have from the past. If the price at this quality point were a little better I would fill my sock draw and not think twice.
