The metal is very soft, malleable and easily fusible, with a melting point higher than sodium, but lower than lithium or tin. Chemically, indium is similar to gallium and thallium, and it is largely intermediate between the two in terms of its properties. It has no obvious role in biological processes and common compounds are not toxic. It is most notably used in low melting point metal alloys such as solders, soft metal high vacuum seals, and in the production of transparent conductive coatings of indium tin oxide (ITO) on glass.

It appears to be indium but the package only contained 9.3 grams of metal, not 10 grams. Usually products that are sold by weight contain at least the specified weight plus a small margin, to make sure no packages are underweight. The pellets weight about 0.15g each and are quite malleable.

Exactly what I ordered.

I got a thin envelope with invoice in it, no indium, quite distraught.

The indium arrived within a day. It is very high quality and is working well in the eutectic alloy (Ga, In, Sn) I needed it for.

As pictured. Shipped immediately from seller and arrive two days later as promised. I am not a prime member so that is always nice. I yet to begin subjecting the metal to its chemical destiny, but insofar as shipping and product delivery it was exactly as I expected.

it most definitely looks larger in the picture but it is exactly 10 grams! I just wish they showed someone holding them in the pictures, as it would be more accurate. Makes for a great little desk toy if you out it in a small jar. They cold weld very easily, and, fun fact, it is the only element in the universe that you can chew like bubblegum, as it is soft and non-toxic! anyway, cool product, just slightly underwhelmed with size and a jar included in the package would have been nice.

Fast ship! Took a blow torch and melted them all into a single blob. It melts as easy as wax.I made room temperature metal alloy by rubbing gallium against indium!Gallium will turn into a liquid if it's heated a tad hotter than room temperature by holding it in your hand: that's how magicians make those spoons that bend and melt in their hands. Smearing this alloy on glass is how they make touchscreens!
