This product took me 3 days to figure out as the instructions are in Chinese, and broken, confusing English. There is a lock button, an hour and minute button. If you want to switch the timer from 8 hours to 7 hours, you have to hit the hour button 99 times to go all the way around. I like that this product exists though as I struggle with self-control.I wish the instructions were written by a native-English speaker so I could know how to use it better. And would it kill ya to make an up AND down button!?!?

I used this lock to lock my laptop and phones on 5pm in evening so that i can sleep peacefuly and deeply. Its a very helpful locker. The build quality is also very good. It doesn't look cheap quality. Be sure to lock your device before evening because in the night, your self control lowers and you will find it difficult to have the courage to lock your device using this locker.

I have tried a couple of timer lock safes to put some of my vices a bay, but there was always an emergency way to get in that I would discover which nullified their utility. Admittedly this lock has that feature too. But in this case once you use it 3 times it no longer works. So I did just that. I used the emergency unlock operation 3 times so that it would not work any more and low and behold, I have an effective deterant to the vice I am trying to curb!

This might be a bit unorthodox, but I purchased this item with the intent to lock myself out of the food pantry to avoid late-night eating -- I'm trying to lose some weight, and my will-power is pretty much nonexistent. I didn't even know something like this existed until I searched for it on Amazon; I just had the thought "I wish I could lock myself out of the pantry for a few hours a day".I've got to say, I'm pretty happy with little device. It works exactly as described; it will lock up to 99 hours, and the automatically unlatch when the time runs out. I was a little worried about this -- I didn't want an error to occur and be stuck without food indefinitely. Pressing the center button several times when there is no time on the timer will unlock the device, and pushing the metal bit back in will re-latch it. Add time with the hour and minute buttons, and press the center button to activate the lock and the countdown -- beware, once you press that center button with the time set, you only have 5 seconds to press it again and abort the lock, otherwise you're locked out for the set duration.I haven't played around the with the emergency override -- at this point, I don't even want to know how to do it, as it will kind of ruin the purpose of it for me. Just know that there should be 3 times you can use it, before it won't work on the lock anymore. The only slight complaint I can say it that part of the display is a bit dimmed on my device -- it works as it should, but for example, when the timer reads all "0"s, the second 0 looks more like a 1; a few of the lines making up the 0 are so faint they look like they're not even there. This doesn't effect performance, but it is a little disappointing that it gives the impression of the wrong time at some displays. It's still able to show the correct time, you just have to look a little closer. This is just a heads up -- if it's like mine, it'll work fine, but there's a chance you might need to swap out and return the lock if you get one like mine and the dimmed display bothers you.Beyond that very happy with this timer lock -- hopefully if'll be that slight kick in the butt I need to wathc my calories!

After 3-4 uses, the "beep" function stopped working. This is bad for two reasons: (1) it may be difficult to detect that you accidently hit a button (in a completely functional unit, it will beep with each button press). (2) you will not hear any of the "wanring" beeps that locking is imminent. This happened to me and friend as we were using this for fun and games. We did not know that I had errantly hit the HOUR button twice, increasing the lock time greatly. To say the least this was "inconvenient". I guess if you keep a bolt cutter handy, no problem, but then you've just destroyed the darn thing. If you are by yourself. beware. I'm sorry about this; but manufacturer's quality control must be poor. But please note: To be fair, the device does have an immediate-open feature (by pressing buttons a certain way). But it can only be used three times.

I have been using the Metal Timer Lock for about 3 weeks in the refrigerator. It works fine so far, and I have not needed to recharge it yet. I use the lock on an Igloo insulated lunch box, which has two zippers that can be anchored together using this lock, preventing access to the lunch box and midnight snacking. Also have a similar lunch box in the freezer that is secured using a brass padlock, and I keep the key in the first lunchbox.I originally used the Kitchen Safe (different company) for the same purpose, but found that although the electronics worked in the fridge, the plastic container on the bottom contracted in the cold and made it very hard to open. The Metal Timer Lock has proved to be a better solution for me.
