I like these for my recumbent tadpole trike. I really liked how they mounted on my handle bars and they feel good. The friction front left side works great, but no matter what I do I can’t dial them in on the right as indexed. I paired it with a new MS derailleur and cassette, but to no avail. Today, I switched the right side over to friction and they work beautifully. Quite, smooth shifting. Might have been the cassette, or the cable routing or a half dozen other things, but I’m not worrying about it anymore. I’ve gone Friction!

I got them since they have friction mode and I normally like bar end shifters but the bike I was putting them on didn't make sense for them. So far they seem to work well and were easy to install.

I actually really like these shifters, because I can tell they're excellent quality and will probably last a good long while. However, there's two things I don't like about them, one of which renders them useless to me;1) I don't like the textured finish of the mounts. It's totally not a game changer, and it's not even that noticeable, but I like my bike to be a thing of beauty.2) These aren't ambidextrous, meaning you can't swap handlebars like you can with some other friction shifters. The reason why this is important to me, and could be important to others, is because I have a broken scaphoid in my right wrist, and it will never heal. Because of that I like to swap my shifting and my braking so that I'm activating the front derailers and brakes on the right handlebar instead of the left.

These seem very durable and one of a few 9 speed thumb shifters out there. I wouldn’t hold it to Shimano standards but certainly worth the money and a great shifter!

I've had problems shifting with a three ring crankset and read a story about thifters.First, I wondered if someone misspelled something. Then I found out that it is a neologism for thumb shifters. Curous - and dissatisfied with my shimano index shifters - I switched. These are great. Easy to adjust, reliable, comfortable, and affordable.

I put a Soma Oxford handlebar on my Long Haul Trucker and replaced the bar-end shifters with these, mounted forward of the brake levers. I planned to use the friction mode for the rear (right) lever, but the index mode works so well I haven't even tried the friction mode. Crisp, clean shifts on both levers. Seem very durable, but I only have about 500 miles on them. Handsome things.

I have been eyeing these for a while now, ever since I bought a Surly Long Haul Trucker and fell in love with friction shifting. My wife bought a Surly Pugsley which came equipped with them. They are smooth and reliable. As soon as I got home I ordered them. Installing them on my big dummy was a breeze, replacing the trigger shifters. The right shifter comes factory set to index shifting for a nine speed cassette, but a quick turn of a 4 mm hex wrench and it was in friction mode, so the number of gears in the rear cassette is moot. The shifting is smooth, and I am extremely happy!

Love these shifters, they work just as expected. I wish there had been some discription as to their min-max dia handlebar fit. My bar is 26.0mm and I had sand to the inside dia. alot to make them fit. My handlebars are bull bars so there was no tight curve like on drop barrs.
