Good equipment, a bit difficult for beginners, but with a wide range of configurations you can do everything you want on a highly recommended Mikrotik device.

Currently one of the best, newest, Mikrotik routers in small “lite” form factor. There are some cheaper older models that probably work just as well, but this has the current RouterOS 7 (hopefully many years of support) and ax WiFi. Sadly 2.4GHz only though.I'm really just using this as a WiFi bridge for a wired Ethernet copy machine, but Mikrotik is actually great for this: the “station-pseudobridge” mode works at Layer 2 and means Bonjour/mDNS works without issue. (Make sure to update the OS! This mode was only recently added to ROS 7.)Configuring Router OS is quite complicated however. It has tons of fantastic features, but is not very user friendly. Do some research about Router OS before buying a Mikrotik device.

Need to power a wifi router from a battery powered inverter from a USB port and also use that inverter to light up a radio using a POE? This is the device in Mikrotik line. So our techs are using a dewalt 20v battery powered Inverter, we secure this to the inverter, power it via USB, power the radios using their stock POE from the power bank. Then we can program wirelessly with a laptop. Cuts installs by 30 minutes. Dear Mikrotik, please upgrade your other mAP's to 1G ports. New gear, believe it or not, is abandoning 100full, and won't negotiate with anything else but a 1G port. So the mini mAP lite would have been perfect for this awesome setup, but cuz a Tarana won't negotiate I had to swap gears to this device. I will say this for anyone still reading. Works great. Wipe the config, create a switch and wireless bridge and you're golden.

As long as you just go with the defaults, this works quite well. I turned off the WiFi and just use it as a gateway.WARNING!!!Unless you are an IT specialist in complicated routing details, you might not want to dig too deeply into this unit. It really is a full bore router in a very small package. With almost any aspect of it to be configured and fiddled with to the heart's content of the geekiest among us, it would be overwhelming to an average person. The simple set up process (relatively) and the defaults are enough to use it for the home.

I use a different MicroTik HAP to run the home network. However, that one comes with some config options out of the box which means you will be frustrated for only a few hours to make the thing work. I wanted to use this one to extend the home network and searched for about three hours for working directions and nothing was found. I think they expect you to post on a forum so volunteers that read their coded documentation can decode it for you. At first I thought the amount of options to configure MicroTik made it a true power user product. Now I realize the user interface is just plain bad. It fails any basic analysis for user-friendliness and the horrible documentation means you will be reaching for irrelevant YouTube tutorials 3-4 versions out of date on what you actually have. MicroTik seems unable or unwilling to make their products properly documented. Anyway, this product is WiFi 6 yet has the outdated WiFi package on RouterOS, which makes it incompatible as a Remote CAP for any other real WiFi 6 MicroTik product. Nobody told me that. No documentation says that. So I wasted many hours of my time trying to do something that would never work. It is better to skip this one.

Love it. Great value and performance as a small firewall and 2.4Ghz 802.11AX. Travel ready if you want. Works seamlessly with other MikroTik APs. I'm past the initial learning curve, so config was easy and identical my other units. The mAP is smaller, but not AX, so this is my new go to travel router

Main drawback is poor wireless range from the device. It caps at 16dBm tx power. Even a cheap gl inet ar300m can do 21dbm. A little too low for my liking. However this is still very good as a wired router without taking WiFi into account. Usb c is nice and convenient. Arm cpu architecture means this is easy to set up with zero tier and WireGuard for remote management and snmp polling

Me explico.
