These are great! I keep getting sets of these so my son can grow his collection because he really enjoys them. When I got this set I assumed they’d actually be a mini version of the original size, but they are the same. I didn’t pay attention to the dimensions I just read the title. He also really likes the case it comes in so he can take them on the go.

This Super Mario Brothers themed magnetic cube set is perfect for on-the-go fidget needs. The case is colorful and well-made. The magnetic cubes can be built on a flat surface or in the case itself which is a nice feature that the case is also functional. The cubes seem high quality and colorful. I like that the cubes can be attached at various points of each other and not just the sides. This allows for fun 3D builds and more depth in the scenes. The sounds the pieces make when building are satisfying and provide a fun sensory experience. The only negative of this set is, as someone else mentioned, it comes with a paper with build ideas but the blocks don't match all of the build ideas. For example, I have 2 water blocks but the image shows a scene with 4 water blocks. This can be frustrating for some kids who want to build it like a LEGO and copy the image. Otherwise, a great addition to our fidget collection.

My kids like to build with blocks and magnet tiles. However, those items cannot go in the car with us because they take up too much space. These blocks are self contained, they connect to each other easily and the case also can be used a table on which the kids can build with the blocks. We use these in the car or when we go to restaurants (I have a 3 and 5 year old). I just ordered another one of these so there is no fighting between my 2 kids.

Between after school activities, therapies, and doctor visits, my kids (5, 8) spend a lot of time in waiting rooms. I have a "busy bag" I bring with us for these times we expect to be waiting. I grabbed this for the bag and I'm glad I did.Pros- A theme they know from games.- Decently priced. Right now it's $22 with a 20% off coupon. I don't think I'd pay more than $20 for this personally.- Great for travel too -- the blocks stick to the case so it would work in a car.- Fun, open-ended toy. My kids LOVE this little set and have created a ton of things even though there isn't a whole bucket of pieces.Cons- Not an issue for us, but these are small, 1x1 inch cubes. Because of that, I wouldn't recommend for a toddler. The packaging says 3+ buy my kids were still sticking toys in their mouths at 3 so that seems a bit risky, unless you're watching them the entire time they're playing.- The instructions show a couple of different things you can build, but only if you have *multiple* sets. My 5 year-old was pretty upset when everything he tried to copy he couldn't make.Neutral- The pieces make a clickity clackity sound when you have a lot at once. It annoys me but my kids love it.The cons didn't really impact whether or not my kids enjoyed it (even my frustrated-by-the-instructions 5 year-old still spent an hour playing with it when we first got it), the product is as described, and the quality is decent for the price point so I'm not taking off any stars.

I did not get this for a kid. I got it for me. While the metal storage case is a great way to carry these blocks about and for use as a basic stage, this Mario look-alike goes on the refrigerator. That is where it needs to be in my way of thinking. These blocks are magnetic and will readily stick to a fridge. But they have a peculiar rattle which I suppose is the magnet inside. The cubes seem durable enough for most children and are about .75 of an inch to a side. The colors are vibrant. The images are very familiar without the first word about who or what this is supposed to be.I do not pretend to know much about licensing, but this seems like a close call. I’ll have fun with it, nevertheless.
