First and foremost, the adapters work. I bought two, one for each system. Using a 2 foot SFF-8088 cable with these adapters to link my expander and HBA, I ran a 24 hour ZFS scrub without a single error; so the signal integrity seems good. That being said, there is a white piece of plastic that covers the internal connector of the adapter and on both adapters they arrived broken in the same place. It seems the plastic piece's tolerance is probably too tight, as it appears to be a crack from stress. The plastic piece is not fully snapped in two, it just cracked to relieve stress but it's hanging on and still doing its job just not quite as well as it was designed to and I am unsure if it will fully break in two eventually.

I have a supermicro case that I was using without a motherboard so just as a JBOD housing. Installed this going to the backplane then used a SFF-8088 to SFF-8088 cable to my server and so far it has worked great. Bought another one for a separate case as well.

I've only had it installed for a couple days now, but it's working fine for a link between my areca 1882 raid card and a rocketstor DAS.

Be aware that this does not have nor does it come with a low profile bracket. This is actually a good thing for me because I wanted a full size bracket, but couldn't find one, so I was going to have to get creative. Now I don't have to. The attached picture shows this card next to a card with a low profile bracket for comparison.

The diagrams in the listing show that this has a single protrusion to fit in the single groove in my SFF-8088 plug. Lo and behold, the actual item has an extra protrusion which means I can't plug the cable in. Why? Why add an extra one? I realize that many cables today come with plugs that have three grooves, but my cable doesn't. Now I have to buy another cable as well!
