This thing is sadly not very well designed. I was really excited to have a stepper for under my desk while I play video games but unfortunately this stepper only half worked for about 1 minute. The cable around the pulley immediately fell off if it was ever even fully on to begin with and it seems impossible to be able to put it back on. The stepper did come with tools to be able to remove the pulley cable, which I tried but it is just too short to be able to put it back around the pulley and also secure to the stepper.I'm not sure if the hydraulics are bad as well. I was able to sort of step up and down for about a minute but the step pads stopped moving upwards on their own like they are supposed to. Once you step down they just stay there unless you manually pull them up with your hands. I was not able to get the counter to work until I manually extended the pads to their full height with my hands either. The instructions are unhelpful and on top of being unhelpful, there is contradictory information in the booklet compared to the listing. The booklet states that the stepper's weight limit is 100kg (This is about 220 lbs) but the listing states that it's weight limit is 300 lbs. The booklet also states that you should not use the stepper for more than 20 minutes at a time, which is not stated anywhere in the listing from what I can see.

The box came all right even though it was pretty heavy, so no damage. Confusion started once it was unpacked. There was a plastic packet with tools and a screwed knob. I opened the manual and nowhere I found any instruction that asks for usages of supplied tools or the knob. Blindly, I attached the knob in a threaded hole that I found in the front without knowing what its purpose was, if at all. Climbed up on the steps and started lifting my legs up and down - found it works fine. There is a small display unit; I switched it on and saw some numbers that increase with every step. I am assuming those are counts of steps, calories burnt etc. I didn't find the source of its power supply. Is there a lithium battery? But I didn't find any inlet to recharge. Could it use normal alkaline battery? But I didn't find any placeholder for the batteries. I am simply puzzled. This is a great example of a nice product that can still confuse you with so many unanswered questions.

My wife absolutely loves this stair stepper and here's what she had to say:This is actually turned out to be an exercise device that I really love and use. It stores away very easily and takes up very little room. When I pull it out, within seconds I'm in exercise mode climbing virtual stairs. It's very stable and it seems to be built very well. Even though it's strong and sturdy, I love that it is still lightweight and easy to move around the house in case I want to use it in different locations. I also love the digital readout the tracks count, calories, time and peps/min. I definitely get a good burn in my quads once I get going, so it's definitely working the large muscle groups.I'll re-emphasize that the small footprint makes it very convenient to use.

Compact stepper that fits under my desk and is easy to pull out and use. Lots smaller than my treadmill! For me, I'm finding that my stance is a little closer than I'd like -- I'd prefer to have the step platforms a few more inches apart. Otherwise it's a decent little bit of exercise kit for my home office standing desk.

The mini stepper is solid and it works as it should. I bought it for me and my mom to share. I am young and athletic and my mom is older and inactive. The stepper is very easy to move from place to place, but it is solid enough to not tilt over or anything like that. My mom is a big woman and older, so it is very important that its a solid stepper. The stepper for me is good in stiffness, but for my mom it was hard. I adjusted the height and it was easier for her standing up. I will say it can definitely work for your upper glutes, quads, and calf. Posture and positioning of your body really matters. I think it is a very effective and serves its purpose if you're very aware of how to position your body. My mom is not as aware on how to properly position, so she can focus on certain muscles, but she said she can feel it in her calf and legs. I weigh about 112lbs, but my mom who is a heavier woman about 230lbs, the machine does creak and make noises with her. We did try to use the resistance bands, we are both on the short side, so I had to adjust the bands, but they worked as well. Like I said this machine is very effective and very useful from beginners to active people. I only gave it a four star because the adjuster knob is very hard to turn. My mom is not able to do it and I struggle, but I eventually get it. It's just annoying that it is hard because I have to adjust it for my mom and for myself, but that is not an issue if it's just for one person. The knob is just hard.

Very compact but still solid, well built. This is great for under-desk exercise while working. My wife is smaller (4'8") so it is better for a standing exerciser for her. Only reason not 5 stars is that it does not have adjustable tension to lower stiffness and is a bit difficult for me (more athletic) so hard for my wife, who is not athletic. All-in-all it is well built and easy to use out-of-the-box.
