These make me feel like a pro! This is a really nice tool with a premium look and feel and solid functionality. I don't do a lot of modeling/scribing but I do have a 3D printer. This has already been really handy for cleaning up prints! It's ± perfect for the sorts of cleanup that a hobby knife is poor at — when you need a kind of "prying" cutting action. The blade seems like it should hold up pretty well, and perhaps could even be sharpened? All the same it might have been nice if they'd included a spare or two with it. (The listing right now as of 2025 March 6 says "Our store will launch replacement blades of all sizes in the middle of this month" so perhaps some will be available, hopefully at a fair price, soon!)UPDATE: nope… the blade snapped off the first time my oldest teenager used it… 🤦🏼 I'm torn whether to dock a star but I wasn't there when it happened and there's a really good chance it was misuse on their part. But it still stinks since it barely lasted a few uses, and needs replacing even before the OEM refills are even available!

This is a high-quality precision scriber with a solid aluminum body, excellent grip, and a sharp carbide tip that cuts clean, precise lines. The packaging is also well done, giving it a premium feel. However, I ran into one issue when first trying to unthread the collet chuck—the entire aluminum unit that holds the collet started unscrewing from the handle instead. I considered using thread locker, but since the problem hasn't repeated itself, I’m holding off for now. Another minor downside is that the collet is aluminum rather than brass. A brass collet would have been preferable, as it would reduce the chances of parts locking up and becoming difficult to untighten when swapping out bits.Overall, a well-made tool with just a couple of small quirks.

Lots of applications for scribers in the gundam world, but I got this for my plastic car models. Scribers are used in this hobby to further define panel lines when you apply paint to them, basically giving further definition and character lines to your subject. That said, this tool is very precise. Prior to using this, I often use a Tamiya scriber which has a much thicker blade. This blade is nearly the same sharpness as a number 11 blade. I find that I have to using a magnifying glass and be super light when scribing, otherwise this definitely could drift and create a scratch.Feels great in the hand and I usually reach for it now instead of my Tamiya scriber, but I know I have to have intent when using it. Lastly, the blade itself appears to be replaceable, but I have no idea where I would get it and the box, which is sturdy and presents this tool well, didn't include any documentation.

Was not expecting this to be as sharp as it was. It is able to shave metal off of my tool steel allen wrenches. I did find that it doesn't like having the very tip of it dragged like a pencil, and can cause it to chip. But that's on me because I know that tungsten is weak in expansion, but I wasn't thinking. So using the edges of the knife in a forward cut works great, and this applies to the tip as well. I also found that it can hold the blades for my deburrer if I don't want it to spin for some reason. It's not a perfect fit, but works well enough.

I ended up using this to scribe ceramic and glass so far. I haven't had it long at all.Holy crap this is sharp. I got one other size of scribe and this review will cover both as both performed just as well. When I first got these, I ran a finger over the tip of the scribe (TINY point) and the tungsten actually "twanged" against the fingerprint ridges of my index finger. That definitely took me by surprise. It stayed sharp throughout the job I had first. Time will tell how long the edges stay sharp.

This scribing tool is absolutely butter smooth. It’s def worth the price to invest in a decent unit instead of getting a cheap one that causes jagged lines on models. I’m planning on replacing my old scribing tools with these.

This scribe has a pretty nice quality handle, it's easy to grip and doesn't roll off the table when you set it down. The carbide cutting tip works well enough but the geometry is a bit off so it tends to leave behind a rough surface compared to my other scribes (Bucasso on left, competitor on right). For the price, its not a bad value but there are plenty of options to upgrade to.

I chose this Bucasso model scriber, admittedly, for a completely different purpose from what is described in the listing. I'm using this scriber for detailed cutting of vinyl and tape for the purposes of automotive/motorcycle paint masking prep and it works GREAT.The tool itself is beautifully machined of aluminum with a knurled grip for accurate positioning and use of the tool. The replaceable blade makes this a tool that I'll have for quite some time. It's clear that a lot of thought and precision went into the construction of this scriber. When using a straight edge on a cutting mat, this tool works beautifully to cut vinyl and tape for masking purposes. I've only run some tests so far but the tool is also very good at following stencils for cutting shapes out of vinyl.I'm so happy with this tool that I've already started looking for a replacement blade source. While this product listing suggests that Bucasso will be releasing a line of replacement blades, I was disheartened to see that I couldn't quite find any replacements or off-brand options on Amazon. I don't love that I may only have Bucasso to look to for replacement blades so hopefully they'll be available soon and at a decent price. Just some thing to be aware of but so far, I'm very pleased with this tool for my needs.

I recently ordered the Bucasso Model Scriber, and I’m absolutely thrilled with it! It arrived promptly and in perfect condition, with minimal packaging that was safe and hygienically done. From the moment I took it out of the box, it was clear that this was a high-quality product made to last. The sharp tungsten steel blade is incredibly precise, cutting through materials like butter and leaving smooth, clean lines. I was really impressed with how sharp it is, and the precision grinding gives it an almost mirror-like surface. Whether I was deepening a scribe line or adding fine detailing, it delivered fantastic results every time. It made my modeling work much easier and more enjoyable. The ergonomic handle is another standout feature. Made from aviation-grade aluminum, it feels lightweight and comfortable in my hand. The non-slip texture provides a solid grip, and the low center of gravity ensures it’s not tiring, even during long sessions. I also really like the six-sided cylindrical design, which prevents the tool from rolling off my workspace. And when I’m done, the protective cap is a nice touch to keep the blade safe. One of the best aspects is the variety of sizes. With seven different sizes to choose from (ranging from 0.075mm to 0.5mm), I can tackle a wide range of projects without needing to switch blades. Each size is color-coded, making it easy to grab the right one for the job. Whether I’m working on Gundam models, plastic models, or car kits, I feel confident this tool will handle all my needs. It’s also lightweight and portable, so I can take it with me if I’m working on the go. Just a small note: I make sure to avoid dropping it to keep the blade in perfect condition, but that’s a small precaution considering how well it works.Overall, I’m extremely happy with the Bucasso Model Scriber. It's a fantastic tool that provides great value, and I can confidently recommend it to any hobbyist, from beginners to advanced model builders. Whether you’re working on Gundam kits, plastic models, or any other kind of craft, this tool is a must-have!

Small scriber but heavy weight, the quality is super. The size and weight is perfect with my hand and holding it is very handy. But FYI, my hand isn't big. My other scriber is 0.125mm compare to this one is 0.15mm, honestly I won't feel much difference. You probably can only tell when under a magnify. It also works really well on these ink line scribing, smooth and quick. This tool is right for the gundam model, especially on the HG and MG scale with this size!

I absolutely LOVE this scribing tool.Everything about it screams premium quality. It has an aluminum alloy body that is beautifully machined and the grip on the tool is knurled but very cleanly done so it's gentle on your fingers while providing a perfect gripping surface. The tungsten blade is razor sharp and has a perfectly slight flex so you can finesse cuts/grooves/lines when working.I love the way this tool works just like a pen (the lid just pops on and off easily but stays on because of a rubber o ring) and has an indestructible lid and body to keep the blade safely stowed away when not in use. I also love that the tool has the size of the blade clearly painted on the lid so you know exactly which one it is if you have purchased multiple sizes. The worst thing I could say about this scribing tool is that I had a hard time finding replacement blades either on Amazon or on the manufacturer's website. This is unfortunate because the design of this tool makes it supremely easy to switch out the blade for a replacement, as required.Highly recommended as a buy-it-for-life scribing tool!
