Bought these in Nov 2024. Pulled them out of storage in March when I noticed mole activity. 3 out of 4 worked but one did not. Refund only good for 30 days and no way to contact the supplier. Don't know yet if they actually repel moles. Also, if you need to reposition them and you try to pull out of the ground the top comes off and the beeper comes out attached to the top. No instructions for putting back together. Right now I would say do not purchase. Let's see if my issues will be addressed by the seller.

Fred the Groundhog’s Great AdventureOnce upon a time in a sunny little garden, there lived a curious groundhog named Fred. Fred was not an ordinary groundhog; he had big dreams of building the coziest home under a kind lady's shed. But oh no, one bright and breezy day, the lady stumbled right into Fred's secret world! With a loud "SPLAT!" she fell straight through the ground! After the lady picked herself up and dusted off her clothes, she spotted Fred peeking out at her from the other side of the shed. Fred had a perplexed look on his furry face, as if to say, “Oops, I didn’t mean to surprise you!”The lady was not angry, but she realized that groundhogs, especially her new friend Fred, could cause a bit of trouble. So the next groundhog season, she decided to put special devices around the shed to keep Fred and his groundhog pals from digging too close to her home. These devices were like little beeping buddies that only made noise that could be heard when you got really close. Some time went by by, and guess what? Fred was back! He wiggled his nose and scampered around the shed, sniffing the air and wondering what those beeping gadgets were. Fred looked so determined; he even wiggled his little tail, planning to raise a family right where he left off!But just then, he paused, his ears twitching. “What’s this?” Fred thought, his tiny brow furrowing. That beeping device was messing up his big dreams! So with a puff of frustration and a slight hop, he set out to solve the mystery of the beeping. The kind lady noticed Fred’s confusion. “Oh my dear Fred!” she said, scratching her head. “I can’t let you and your friends dig under my shed again!” So, she decided to befriend Fred instead. She carefully set a little trap that wouldn’t hurt him at all but would let him travel far away to a fun grassy meadow. With a soft thump, Fred found himself caught, but not to worry! The lady gently carried him to his new home, where the sun shone brightly, and the grass was deliciously green. “Here you go, Fred,” she said with a smile. “Now you can dig to your heart’s content!”Fred blinked his big round eyes and twitched his nose in delight. He waved his tiny paw goodbye and scampered into his new adventure, building burrows and hiding from shadows, full of dreams of growing up with a family of his own.As time passed, the devices around the shed continued to beep, but they didn’t bother Fred anymore. He was happily frolicking in his new home, while the kind lady enjoyed her peaceful garden which was now safe and sound. And from that day on, Fred and the lady lived happily ever after, in their own special worlds, filled with laughter, beeps, and groundhog dreams! The End.

Before installing these devices we had several voles in one area of our lawn. We are watching them from an upstairs window. We received the four pack on June 5 and on June 8 we only saw one vole return. We watch for their activity during the day and so far nothing yet. They were always more activity early am. The one we saw he was chased off by the hose. I would purchase these again. You do have the put them down in the ground leaving one to two inches from the top. Just so happy they worked on our type of voles which I think are meadow voles. You can hear them. Super easy to install. Update the grass area they were using for their run area has grown back. Still not seeing much activity. My neighbor purchased another brand and returned them because theirs weren’t work there was new activity.

I did some research on these and they appeared to have potential. I did read that if you live somewhere where there is already noise, such as road traffic, that gophers can become conditioned to it. In that case, these sound spikes will not be as effective. I am using them in a community garden where that is not an issue. Gopher got into one of my raised bed and were helping themselves to my broccoli plants and carrots. I received the spikes and read the direction. Pretty straight forward; put into ground making sure they get sun to charge and turn on. What caught my attention was that once the spikes are in place it can take a week for the critters to move on. Well, this was my experience. After a week there was no more sign of gophers. It has now been about 2 weeks and NO sign of gophers. Worked as advertised. I’m giving them 5 stars for now.

UPDATE:Disregard my other update that said it stopped working when it rained. My husband turned them off (?!?!) because he thought it was scaring away the squirrels, chipmunks, and birds. Anyway I turned them back off. They successfully survived a very strong rain/hail storm. I still haven't determined whether they are successfully working or not. And the jury's still out on whether it scares away squirrels, chipmunks, and birds. I will update after more time. The good news is, they are apparently very easy to turn off/on so if you are having a social gathering and want to stop the buzzing, just turn them off.PREVIOUS REVIEW:Not sure if it works yet, but you can hear it at least 200 feet away - it's very annoying. I was wondering for days what this annoying beeping/buzzing sound was and tracked it down to these little mole repellers. It really spoils the peace and quiet of the outdoors. However, if it works, it is worth it, and I will just move them further away from where people are. On the plus side, which is a weird benefit, it might help with home security. It sounds almost like a security camera lens opening, which I think would be helpful for detering human pests. :) Overall, I think if it works, it is probably worth it, and I just recommend placing these further from where people might be gathered. One other thing I am still trying to figure out is whether it has any impact on squirrels and ground-feeding birds. I like my ground-feeding birds, such as doves, and don't mind a few squirrels and chipmunks, although I don't want them tunnelling underground. Will update this post once I observe whether it impacts them at all.
