The monkey cup, scientifically known as Nepenthes, is a genus of tropical pitcher plants. These unique plants are carnivorous, possessing specialized leaves that form pitcher-shaped structures filled with digestive fluids. Insects and small animals are attracted to the pitcher by its nectar, eventually falling into the trap where they are digested to provide the plant with essential nutrients.

I got a very healthy plant and I’m so happy. It may be a little damaged… but I bet it will grow new ones fast! I would definitely recommend buying from this person! Also, I got this in winter and I’m surprised it arrived alive! It had very good packing too, I see the seller is making sure it’s kept warm! Be aware though, it does not come with a heater and it’s not officially sure that it will come in un-damaged, just a heads up! Also be aware that it will arrive small! (Update): They have grew a little bit and also FYI, you should put a little bit of water if there isn’t any in the pitchers. And another FYI, it doesn’t come with instructions. But I have done my research online and it has been my instructions and it actually works! Don’t be discouraged if there are a lot of pitchers damaged, because new one will grow and it’s very good if there is even 1 or 2 not damaged. And also, they will take a very long time to reach adult hood, so don’t be worried if it doesn’t grow fast, especially in winter as I am growing it in. Hope this helps!

January/February are NOT good time to order tropical plants from the coasts. This little guy had a very rough time getting here. Took about 20 days to arrive, but only one mention of a shipping delay due to weather when there actually probably two weather delays. The first one (not mentioned in tracking) we had 15" of snow. The second one we only had a few inches of snow and the roads were good but got hit by sub-zero temperatures. Every time I've ordered a plant lately it's taken ridiculously long to arrive, I checked the weather across the travel area for the next week and didn't see any weather predictions for heavy snow or cold temperatures - had usps shipped on time at it's normal pace it would have missed all of the weather delays and been on time and it would have traveled during 50-70 degree days. So the plant is a little sad right now and very dry. I watered it with distilled water and set it in a bowl partially filled with water. My mesh pots should have arrived the same day and once they arrive tomorrow I'll transplant it with spagham moss and a little less less soil. What I found very interesting is that as small as it is, it already had about 5 pitchers hanging off of it -but this dark black superfine soil is very nice. The pitchers all fell off - but they were just green and the leaves a very dark green (I've raised this species before and never got pots until after a couple of years had passed and they were HUGE and colorful.) So same species - different behavior. It's being carefully cared for and hopefully will survive this. I also ordered (from a different seller) a B52 Flycatcher about 30 or more days ago and a fly trap showed up yesterday but it's completely green with the insides of the traps a pale white color. I have checked my order history and I never ordered this flytrap and wouldn't have paid as much as I did for a B 52 so I don't know if the seller backed out of the original order but did send me some kind of flytrap. The B52 order has completely disappeared. So, lesson learned - never order carnivorous plants in Jan/Feb. We've had such mild winters the last few years - but a completely different pattern of weather in Kansas this year - must be climate change. Anyway - this pitcher plant was packed quite well with an aluminum "blanket" around it, but it likely would have enjoyed a heater pack. But it survived in pretty decent health and hope it grows up to be as stunning as my last one. Love my carnivores - Thank you for such a tiny but well developed specimen. Oh if the seller considers heat packs in the future all the ones I've received for plants were huge and probably cost a lot. When I used to receive live fish they also used heat (or cold) packs that were about 1/3 the size of the plant version and actually held on the heat much longer.

Plant came in alive and fine. It's grown quite a bit since and is still healthy. All the cups it came with have died. After trimming them away, new ones quickly grew.

The plant is kinda dying it only had couple of dead pitcher plants so I cut it off and left the only one that’s party brown and there are brown spots on the plant and while it’s not bad for the price of 16$ I can still find a better pitcher plant with that money and when I asked for refund it said I have to pay 7$ for shipping but the problem was the photo that the seller put about the pitcher plant said it will have itleast couple of healthy pitchers but no it didn’t so don’t wast your money

Arrived very small but in good condition about 6 months ago and since then it’s grown lots and produced many pitchers. When it arrived I repotted it using only dead 100% sphagnum moss, adding a little bit of live moss on the top to prevent algae from growing.I keep it under a grow light that is on a 12 hour timer and next to a humidifier that runs 24/7. I feed it one single darkling beetle in each new pitcher and water it with distilled water which is also what I put in the humidifier.Don’t get discouraged if the pitchers that it comes with die. Mine did too while it was acclimating to its new environment but once it got established it really took off.

I liked the speed of delivery. Came with some pitchers but mostly withered ones and seemed stressed. I'll see how it goes, they grow slowly. Had mine a month and it's still alive, one growing pitcher
