Prevents the known issue of the factory oil pickup cracking. Make sure you have an 06+ ej25 oil pan. The earlier ej25 and ej20 pans will not work with this unit.

Purchased and installed this pickup when I rebuilt the motor on our forester xt. Upgraded the oilpan to a newer sti oil pan and this pick up has been working perfectly since installed 4 year ago. It's taken the abuse of daily driven with no signs of oil starvation to the motor. Much beefier than sto k and not nearly as expensive ar the Killer B pick up.

Did not fit my application although it said it would, can't return because I had it for a while, so I'm eating it. As you can see, this pickup tube is much longer than the original, and it's much longer. In the picks the stock and Moroso are touching the bottom of the pan, and you can see the tube flange sits way past the edge of the pan. I had to cut the baffles to fit, because it's at a much straighter angle than stock as well. In any case, DOES NOT fit all EJ25.

Ordered this for adding to my rebuilt sohc EJ25 motor in my 2001 Outback. Overkill I know but reading about cracked oil pickup tubes scared me enough to buy this. Went to install it and this tube is too tall for the stock oil pan. I was on a time and money crunch so couldn't order an alternate pan so I returned it. Product looked great though and will order again if I have an application where it will fit for sure.

Fits well seems quality but trying to remove the oil pan and install it back was hell. Good part though.

If you have an SG Forester with the flat-bottom oil pan, where the oil drains out to the right-hand side of the car (around 2004-2005MY) this item Will NOT Fit. You will need to convert to the later style "deep" oil pan that drains to the left side of the car. I was not aware of this, and had ordered an exact replacement oil pan from Subaru to replace the rusty one on my car (intending to replace the pickup & pan at the same time). It wasn't until I had the pickup installed and was attempting to install my new flat-bottom pan that I ran into serious trouble. I thought maybe it was the baffling in the pan causing issue so I bent some of it up out of the way in an attempt to create some more space but it was no use. The pickup is just way too tall for the flat-bottom pan. It must be used with the deep-style pan. I had no choice but to use my OEM pickup, which fortunately showed no signs of cracking, plus I use an actual oil pressure gauge so I'll be able to detect any oil pressure issues before the pickup fails completely (if it ever does, the OEM pickup issue seems to be make into a bigger issue than it actually is). As I had bent up my new oil pan's baffles, I would not have been able to return it, and besides, switching oil pans would've required modifying or discarding my under-engine splash shield.Added a 2nd star because the item does seem to be good quality and is a good option for the budget conscious who find the Killer-B product too pricey and don't plan on smashing the oil pan up against the pickup screen; and also because the 3rd-party seller accepted the return despite it being a little dirty (from the attempted installation, I wiped it down well) and I received a refund.

The fitment inside the oil pan was a little out but nothing that a couple love taps with a rubber mallet couldn't fix. I made sure it was secured in place and gave it a couple smacks to bend it to the side. It must have been within 2 or 3mm or so before I adjusted it.

This fit on my 2005 Subaru Legacy GT without issue. Compared to the stock one, it is clear why these tubes keep breaking. This unit is very solid and we'll made. When you take it out of the box, it will look like a different fitment than the stock one. But if you compare it to where it sits In the pan and on the block it should make perfect sense. When I put this in, I went ahead and changed my motor mounts and my oil cooler gasket, as they are all right there and it is so easy to do once you're under there. I did end up taking off the exhaust heat shiled on the drivers side of the car to put the pan back on more easily, but that was just 3 bolts.

Fits perfectly and it's even more sturdy/rigid than it looks in pictures. High quality welds, and good protective coating. It was really tough to get the oil pan back into place around the exhaust heatshields on an 05 Legacy GT, but that's just the nature of Subaru. Purchased as a preventative measure, I would recommend buying one of these any time you plan to have the oil pan off. Comes with Moroso stickers.

I haven't installed the pickup tube yet but the first thing I noticed is the left over slag from the welds and plasma cutting. I could brush it off with my fingers and finger nails. I have to go back with some sand paper and remove the left over slag.So overall it's ok and I'm sure it will do it's job but I kind of wish I went with the more expensive Killer B pick up.

This oil pickup is a 100% improvement to the OEM pick up for all EJ20/25 engines. If your engine has abnormal oil light flickering at cold start (like myself), this will more than likely fix that issue and save your engine!! Great trade off to paying $100+ for KillerB's pickup. I recommend this to anyone who is having oil light flicker or even if you still have the OEM pickup in the pan, replace it before it is too late!!!
