****** Updated 7/8/2024After leaving the original 1 star review Motor Meter Racing reached out to me through Amazon and offered to send me the "filter". I installed the filter and it has resolved the twitching needle and in-accurate reading issues. The backlighting issue still exists.I updated the 1 star to 4 stars since the meter does actually work with the filter.I docked it one star from 5 because I should not have had to leave a negative review to get timely and proper support from them. I should have been able to get full and timely support through the support email address provided in the instructions. Further more, if a "filter" is required to read properly from a standard ignition coil then it should be provided with the meter or at least the description should state it is required on ignition coil setups.***** OriginalInstalled in my 1994 E150 van with 5.8L motor. Issues are:1) twitchy needle - any engine speed above idle and the needle bounces around erratically2) not accurate - any engine speed above idle and the needle is progressively less and less accurate until at an engine speed of 2000 rpms the needle is over 400rpms off actual rpm3) When wired according to the wiring diagram the backlighting will turn on with the headlights, but will fail to turn off when the headlights are turned off. The backlighting will stay on until the power is cycled no matter what the headlights are doing.4) tech support is extremely slow to answer and when they do it is clear they did not actually read the details of the support request and therefore do not actually provide any level of support!

I was looking for a small tach for my 71 Nova to use in the spot where the clock was by the speedometer. This fit well with some modification to my gauge cluster. The adjustment for the number of cylinders is terrible, but doable once you figure out how to shine a small led light in one of the holes to see into the other with a magnifying glass. It isn't a performance tach, but I do like to know the rpms at times. It worked fine until I installed a stereo. I had terrible clicking coming from the speakers and tried several things to fix that. Finally I unplugged the tach, and it cleared right up. I guess the motor for the needle puts out some noise that interferes. It is about 7 inches away from the radio and may work if further away.

Installation instructions very clear, pretty easy to install, and is accurate. I like the needle sweep at startup. My only complaint is that the switch for the cylinder quantity is set very far inside the tachometer, and is difficult to see/change. Otherwise great product.

Adjustment for cylinder selection is not easy to see could be more clear. Also wish the light was dimable very bright at night. It was easy to install had a correct hole saw and mounts nicely. Just wish the wires where a little thicker but other than that it dose look clean.

I have this hooked up to my alternator w terminal and love it. You'll need an optical or external tach to calibrate it but that's not too hard to do. A few adjustments, check and re-adjust and you're done. Pretty simple and the instructions were pretty good. Works with responsive and smooth movement.
