When the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder is compressed its temperature rises to the point of ignition. Since the engine uses air temperature to cause ignition there is no need for a spark plug. When the engine block is cold the metal may absorb the heat generated by compression and prevent ignition. For this reason many diesel engines contain glow plugs. Glow plugs have a metal tip that transfers heat from a heating element to the cylinders. Once the cylinders are warm enough the glow plugs are switched off and the engine is able to start. This fits the 2003 Ford 6.0 Powerstroke, later years use a different glow plug. Replace the buss bar glow plug harnesses while you are at it. They get rusty and break. High quality OEM part!

Installed in my 03 F350 6.0 Powerstroke. These are OEM and come packaged in FoMoCo packaging. I hope they last longer than the Diesel Rx ones that I previously installed, because the odd bank, particularly 5 & 7, are a real P.I.T.A to replace. I will be buying four more if any of of the driver side Diesel Rx plugs give out.

Received the part on time and it fixed the problem I was having. Didn't notice any performance gain because truck was already running fine but the engine light is no longer indicating a malfunction.
