I've tried 3 of these in this price range, and this is by far the most comprehensive and best fitting. You might want a second set of hands to help adjust the straps once you put it on, but that's the only negative aspect I can think of. Once I did it the first time I don't think anything has shifted enough to cause issues, so after 4 times wearing it now, it still works well. Cleaning it isn't easy, but that's the same for all of these types of things. I've been setting it in the deep freeze overnight like a pair of high end denim jeans and the smell mostly goes away.

Recently I picked up this body armor jacket for my son to wear when riding offroad. Is it overkill? Possibly. But with today's bikes getting more and more powerful, why take a chance. I work in the motorcycle industry and constantly see people getting hurt. Heck, I've wrecked my body over the years while riding offroad. (But we still get back on those bikes, don't weeeeee!!!)As mentioned, this is a pretty awesome body armor jacket. It has all the shoulder, elbow, forearm, chest, and back/spine padded needed. And it's pretty tough and durable, it can definitely take a hit or tree limb. It even comes with a built-in kidney belt. I think one of my favorite parts is the sheer adjustability of the armor. There are many points of adjustment, as well as straps and clips to keep things in place where they need to be. Nothing that I've seen (or from my son's testimony in wearing it), leaves irritating marks or rub points that make it uncomfortable to wear.If anything, I think it resembles more of a suit of armor than the standard chest roost that I grew up wearing. This thing is made of a hard composite plastic, and makes my son feel invincible. Is it the end all be all? No, it's a generic plastic armor sewn and held together by a mesh spandex material. But it really seems to offer more than the basic protection needed to keep our most precious asset coming home at the end of the day.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and I'm glad I picked it up.

Very excited to get this since I do ride my bike often. Looked good on pictures but when you get it it's different. Small fits very well for me, no issues there but the protection plastic feels very cheap, not strong enough. I would not trust this to fully protect me in case something happens. All parts are put together with a fine thin mesh that won't stay in place if you go down, so be mindfull of that.

I am starting to ride off-road and wanted something to help protect me from flying rocks (off rear wheel or rider in front) or falling onto rocks. I don’t recommend as a replacement for full gear on road.The mesh shirt is relatively thin band you’d have to wear with a heavy short or jacket, this will not stay in place alone if you go down.Fairly comfortable when in riding position, but not great fit for mobility. I am 6 ft and 180 lb and have the XL which is fine in arms and waist but narrow across shoulders. Order up if athletic fit in shoulders.The plates can be cinched down with elastic strips that help keep in place.Nice, inexpensive armor for casual riders and beginners.

This jacket is a great for some additional protection. The plastic is light weight but decent. There are ample amount of adjustments to make sure it stays in place. The Achilles heel of this jacket is the main zipper. It is constantly getting stuck when zipping up or down. Not even sure how it gets stuck. It would be 5 stars if this worked but as is might end up not using this due to the hassle of zipping.
