I purchased the Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem back in October 2011, and it turned out to be an excellent investment. As someone who values practicality and cost-efficiency, the idea of renting a modem from the cable company didn't sit well with me. Doing the math, it was clear that buying this modem would quickly pay for itself, and it certainly did.The SB6120 modem is designed for both residential and commercial use, offering high-speed internet capabilities. Its user-friendly online diagnostics and bonded channel status page made it easy to manage. The modem also boasts a 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Port, which provided incredible wired network speeds. The difference was remarkable, with download speeds up to 2000 times faster than 56k analog phone modems and 4 times faster than DOCSIS 2.0 broadband. An intuitive design with easy-to-read operational status LEDs on the front panel was a great feature, making it simple to check the modem's status at a glance. Although I no longer use this modem since I now live full-time in an RV and don't have access to traditional cable services, it served me exceptionally well when I did.As of 2023, I believe this modem still holds up well for certain internet services. It's a testament to its durability and forward-thinking design. For anyone considering a reliable and cost-effective modem for their cable internet needs, the Motorola SB6120 is a fantastic choice.

After doing numerous hours of research I decided to purchase this modem. I was fed up paying Comcast's ($7/month) modem rental fee, and ended up purchasing this on amazon. Amazon had a great price and super fast shipping, arrived in a two days. Hook up was fairly easy and straight forward (had to call Comcast to make it work but took less than 5 mins). My internet speed did go up drastically. With the crappy modem I had before from Comcast my internet speeds were 20 Mbps download/4 Mbps up, but after hooking up this Motorola SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 my internet speeds jumped to 25+ Mbps download/7 Mbps upload.I have had the modem over a year its working great. Unlike my last modem which stopped working randomly every few days I had to power cycle (unplug...wait 30 seconds... plug back in) it was so frustrating. With this new Motorola modem, I havn't had the need to power cycle it even once this year, its great!READ BELOW!!!!!!!!One more thing, Comcast is a greedy company so watch out! I returned my modem to the store the very next morning upon receiving my new SB6120, and was informed that they will stop charging me the monthly modem fee and that's it! I had my comcast set on autopay, and my bill was automatically taken from my account! I do not check my banking often (so I am partially to blame), but as I was doing my online banking I noticed a high comcast bill (because my promotion had expired) so I checked my comcast statement to see how much my internet bill was going to be now and I noticed that Comcast had still been charging me $7 a month for the last 9 months even though I had returned their equipment back! I called them right away and told them about my situation. I was told by the customer service representative that upon returning the equipment to the store customers are still required to call Comcast up and notify that they no longer are renting their equipment!! After an hour over the phone talking to the supervisor I was credited back my money, and everything worked out!! To me this was BS! It's 2013, technology is so advanced and yet a leader in providing internet/phone/tv is that behind on updating their databases/technology itself?? So make sure to call customer service after returning the modem or they will keep charging you the monthly fee!Anyways bottom line:Pros:Great modem, reliableruns pretty cool does not heat up (has great ventilation)Great increase in speeds at same internet levelSaves $$$$ no more monthly modem rental feeNo problems with connection (no more annoying unplug and plug back in)Will be paid for within a year, after that you save $$$$Cons:None, its a great productbut it might be expensive to put out $70 right away but remember its an investment.Bottom Line: GET IT, you will love it!!!!

Had to return it. It is not compliant with Rogers. Be forwarned, do your homework first and see is your ISP supports it. The Rogers network has a limited number of C/Ms it will support. If using for Rogers get the Hi-speed, go to the Hispeed Internet, when a rep answers, ask for "Fulfillment" dept and give the model of your C/M is compliant or not.

I purchased this to replace a 8 year old Motorola modem that had given me flawless service. While I'm not a gamer, I do spend 8 to 10 hrs online a day, and appreciate speedy transitions while online. This modem with its high review rating and promised boost in speed, seemed like a good choice for me.Prior to swapping this modem out with my old one, I went online with my cable provider (Charter) to see what I needed to do. They gave me an online address that would give me step-by-step directions to get Charter to recognize and configure the modem. They did advise that they do not recommend this modem, but wouldn't say why. I assumed that since they had charged me for years for a modem I owned (until I finally caught the error), they just wanted to sell me one of theirs and/or not reap the benefits of more speed from my connection. It mattered not, as I just wanted to change out the modem and was relieved it would be so easy. I was wrong... it wasn't easy.Error after error until finally 'call Charter' came up on the screen. I did and spent 2 hours with tech support trying to get the IP address recognized. Things finally came together and the modem is working great. The increase in speed was immediately noticeable. About a 20 percent jump when opening pages or clicking to open links. That doesn't sound like much, but it makes things much more enjoyable. On the home network the wireless devices (I have seven) all seem a bit speedier too. A faster load time of Netflix via my was a happy surprise this evening, and overall the entire system seems more stable and efficient. While set-up wasn't as easy as 1,2,3 and that was very frustrating, the Motorola brand doesn't disappoint. The promise of increased speed has been met and I'm happy to have the most out of the high speed internet I'm paying for through Charter. Gamers and non-gamers who want a faster high speed internet experience would be buying a quality product that delivers if they buy the SB6120 SURFboard.

Not much to say other than the modem was plug and play and it easily doubled or tripled the download speeds. All without having to pay more money to upgrade the service. Try this before paying your provider for faster service. THe merchant was also on time with delivery.
