I found a really nice matched set of shed antlers that I wanted to display, after doing some research I landed on this product. I will say that the instructions make it seem much easier to do. Probably took me close to an hour, used a hand sander to flatten the base of the antler and a drill to drill the holes in the antlers for mounting. Took some time to get everything lined up properly, but once you do, everything looks really good. For what it costs I think it looks like a professionally done mount. I just wish they would make the plaque come in different finishes. I am overall very pleased with the results.

I took possession of a pair (rare) of naturally shed Red Deer antlers from Glen Strathfarrar in the Highlands and needed to mount them. The mount I chose was Mountain Mikes Rack Plaque. Wow, absolutely perfect. Easy to follow instructions and easy to do. 10 out of 10. Over the moon (picture says it all).

The skull cap is pretty easy to work with, although I did surround the holes/antlers with a gold rope that was not provided. Epoxy on the upper back side of the antler connected the two cuts pretty cleanly and effectively. I used a different base plate because I didn't like the plastic appearance of the one provided. There's something unnatural to me about putting a wild deer antler on a plastic (looking?) plate. I think it should be wood. That said I still like the skull cap a lot; hence my rating. I know many of you are out there looking for something that looks nice when you're done. Very tough to find if you are not a taxidermist. A lot of cheap stuff on Amazon/the internet. Almost embarrassing. Too bad our product suppliers need to hire good marketeers to sell us junk that competes with Chinese product and prices. The skull cap on this kit is pretty nice. Find a nice wood plaque and you don't need a taxidermist. Unfortunate that we have to work so hard to find quality.

I've done many antler mounts over the years and these were by far the best. For best results, it requires a bit of work to the base of the antlers, but once they're on, it's a simple as measure, tighten, and assemble. Extremely happy with the outcome. I wouldn't recommend modifying the artificial scull plate. Work the base of the antler before working scull plate. Should work just fine. And any negative reviews on this product are bogus. Best D.I.Y. mounting kit I've ever used!

I used this for two bucks shot this year and they turned out great. My father was very impressed and thought a professional mounted the racks. I will for sure be ordering this next year for our bucks shot.
