This costs $22.00 MORE than if bought separately. Not much of a value pack! Also, the pictures show it having a bottle of root beer extract. What is there is a packet of root beer mix.I wish I could return this non-value pack and buy the 2 separately, but I found out it'd non-returnable.

Great rootbeer. Not quite the same as when I made it when I was a lot younger, but very close. I like that it came with plastic bottles. We used to have to use glass bottles with metal caps and a sealer.

Bought this for my son for Christmas. He loved it. Can’t wait to taste the root beer! It was a great idea that was just a little bit different than a normal gift!

We used this for a science experiment. It had a great flavor and it was easy to make. We liked the mixing of ingredients and monitoring the fermentation process. I highly recommend it because the root beer has a great flavor and it was fun to make it and drink it.

This was a great project to do with my six-year-old. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. My kiddo feels super accomplished. Just make sure you have white and dark brown sugar! I didn't and improvised for our first batch... came out a little weird (still drinkable).

A little yeasty tasting but still tasted like good root beer. Kids enjoyed making it but not so much the taste.

So I've recently developed an addiction to Root Beer, so my kids got me this for Father's Day. Shipping speed was fantastic, as always with Amazon.The good: It makes a fantastic root beer, and was ready two days after putting it in my pantry closet. Great flavor, not terribly complicated to make, as the instruction booklet is targeted to a mid-teen audience, I think. This is definitely going to be re-used again and again.The bad: Well, there really isn't a BAD bad, just an error on my part. We use brown sugar at home, and the instructions called for 2 cups of brown sugar and 1 cup of white sugar. I figured I could get away with three cups of dark brown sugar, since it's good enough for my coffee, right? Wrong. My first batch came to great, aside from a distinctive molasses-y flavor, which was definitely from the brown sugar. As the days progressed (I had to polish off 4 quart-bottles, after all) the flavor got more and more intense, until the last bottle was like a half root beer, half Malta. For the second batch, I decided to see what would happen if I flipped the recipe entirely and went with 2 cups white and 1 cup brown (mind you, this is the opposite of what the instructions called for.) What came out was fantastic, if a little too light-colored to be really root beer. It was more like a cream soda and root beer mix. This kit has definitely spurred my interest in making root beer at home, and I was amazed at what other sodas I could create so easily!This is definitely a must-try.
