Pegador de Panela - MSR
Reviewed in Brazil on July 22, 2024

Gripper handles are hard to find (or very expensive) in outdoor stores nowadays, I don't know why. This tool is a basic for camping and everyone should have one. This one is a sturdy aluminum of the standard design.

I looked at a lot of Pot Grips including a bunch of Youtube videos. Plenty of cut outs to reduce weight without compromizing strength. This is a useful tool that is sturdy and works. Many OTHER tools are junk. Better to have a great quality tool that will work and last. Hint: Use leather gloves to protect from radiant wood heat and put a loop of paracord on the Pot Grip to keep from dropping it in the fire.

Product item states pot lifter is 9"long. It measures just under 5". For a deep Dutch oven as we have, I'll burn my hand utilizing this thing. Might work with smaller cast iron, just not for me. Seems sturdy just way too short in length.

I have used this pot holder for my 1600 ml and 1900 ml TI and SS pots with not issues. Holds well and is secure when using to move full pots of boiling water around. With the larger pots the handles never give me a good solid grip, they are loose and moving around, hot and really too small to work well when moving boiling water about. This tool gives me a good secure grip on all sizes of pots, if your moving any pot over 750 ml with scalding hot water using the side handles alone you are asking to get burnt.

No problems with this at all, and this is one of MSR's better priced items. As in, every time I use it I think, yep this is definitely worth the money I paid for it. Unlike some other MSR products where I feel like they raked me over the coals. I suppose if you needed more strength you could go Ti, but it doesnt seem worth the price difference. Like I said so far I've had 0 problems. I do make a conscious effort to keep this as cool and away from the fire/stove as possible so the metal doesnt fatigue.

I've used this quite a bit with my Minitrangia Fry Pan for cooking in campfires, and it does exactly what I need it to - it grips the edge of the pan so I don't have to stick my bare hands into the fire to grab it!It is lightweight, easy to use, and the included "cozy" is nice for packing it away so it doesn't make noise when hiking. It does get quite warm if you hold a pan of fresh off the fire food for too long - but there is really no reason to do that other than just to test how warm it gets.

Owned this MSR Pan Handler Pot Lifter with Cozy for about 2 months. Used it twice for camping - once on a 4-day trip with a large group and once with just my family. Both uses were for car-camping experiences, but this thing is so light and small you could easily stuff it into a backpack for "real" camping. No one on the group campout had heard of such a device, but everyone wanted to use it when it was their turn to cook and pick up the hot pot lid or move the pot off the fire.It looks and feels underwhelming, but it served it's purpose and never had any flexing, bending or other trouble picking up a medium sized pot with about a gallon of water multiple times.Well worth the $10 I paid and free shipping from Amazon.Minus 1 star just for its speculative lack of longevity and not inspiring confidence with an apparent chintzy construction.
