This opener cuts around the side of the can which I prefer as it's a little easier to get all the contents out of the can. The opener slips a little as I turned the knob. It took two complete rotations to cut through the can. But I like it.

UPDATE- Seller contacted me and sent a replacement. Opener works great. I still feel the metal connecting the head to the handle is indicative of future failure as other openers have failed in this area over time due to inadequate contact material. That said I had to leave a star off.I would like to point out again though that if you have never used this type of opener and find it difficult to get started opening you are likely, like I used to with my first one, overthinking it. It will have you scratching your head how incredibly simple it is once you get the hang of it.Good opener at a good value.END OF UPDATE--------------------------------------------I've had and used lot of can openers in my 62 years and never had one so difficult to operate. I had to use a cheater bar to turn the handle to open five different cans.I've had several of this type including electric. The first was an "As Seen On TV" opener called a "Safety Can". The only problem after initial use was long after I acquired them after many many cans and they eventually do wear out. The last two, one electric one not, didn't last as long as the old ones and I decided to go back to the traditional style since I no longer had anyone else in the house to worry about getting cut. It didn't last long so I tried this one.If you have never used one of these it does take getting used to. The problem with my first was, simply put, over thinking it. Others I showed them to had the same issue. They are pretty much as simple as setting it on the can and start turning the hand and it feeds itself.I had several cans to open and gave this a try. It started out as it should but was so difficult to operate I had to use a cheater bar to finish up five cans. Since then I have resorted back to my backup options seen in the pics.The only thing good about this opener is the smooth can and lid edges but, if I can't get the can open, that won't matter much.Also, something I have experienced with other openers is the connection between the head and unit. There isn't much, just a thin bar that will likely, over time, separate.One more thing good, I guess, is the price. BUT, as mentioned above, no much good if I can't use it.
