Works great for tracing shorts and intermittent outages due to things like mice chewing on a wiring harness. Very valuable tool for this type of work.

This multifunction drive tester is a handy way to check 12 or 24v circuits. This tool allows you to test battery voltage value, voltage polarity, conductivity, check bulb function, and find faults.The box included two rolls of electrical tape, gloves (not rated to protect against any type of short) and zip ties. A carrying case would have been nice.The LED shows battery voltage only. It would be nice if it could be used to measure the voltage at the test area as well. There are two LEDs that indicate the polarity at the probe - red is for positive, green is for ground. The instruction manual explains how to properly use this tool for multiple electrical checks and is worth reading prior to using. There is an auxiliary ground black on the tester that can be used for testing bulbs, buzzers etc. The quality of the tool is decent and should really benefit in helping to determine most kinds of electrical faults.

Works well, quality of the cable is good (for this price) but quality of clamps is low, especially small one (negative).

The long leads make it very functional and easy to use. Great value for the price. Ideal for quick voltage measurements all around a car or truck. Even for trailer wiring. Product seems durable and good quality

This probe can actually be used like an old-time auto trouble lamp - just connect either of the ground wires (the black battery clip or the alligator clip) to chassis and probe wires with the tip, which is sharp enough to pierce insulation. The red light will go on when it detects voltage.The intended use is to connect the red and black clips to the battery and probe wires: red = voltage detected, green = ground detected. The probe actually sources or sinks 0.8mA into the wire to determine if it's connected to positive or chassis or neither - if neither both lights stay off indicating no connection to positive or chassis. This is good because it ensures a solid connection.The probe can handle 12V or 24V systems. If you press the positive or negative rocker switch it appears to directly connect positive or negative from the battery clips to the probe. Be careful with this! I had my 10 amp meter in line with the probe to the battery and it overloaded and the probe got real hot real fast. It's probably a good way to test bulbs and they would probably illuminate, but you could burn up wires if you keep it on for long.As others have noted, don't use it on wiring that isn't 12 or 24 volts, you could damage low-voltage stuff.

This tester does require and automotive or Power Equipment battery to connect to, but it is pretty cool what you can test with it, you can test voltage as well as a non powered circuit.

This works great to troubleshoot problems or test circuits. This works just as good as the power probe but cheaper. Very useful to identify bad components. I also use it to check circuits when I install alarms. The cord is long enough to reach all around the vehicle. While this is a great tool, it can also be very dangerous. You could potentially blow fuses or worse if you provide power or ground to the wrong wires. I also recommend having a repair manual or a wire diagram handy.
