This set of 2pcs Hand Shakers Music Shakers are well crafted of beechwood. They are a pleasure to hold, smoothly finished, nicely weighted, and balanced. The color is the natural wood , something I love for our Littles.However, as the purpose of these Maracas is to add rhythmic sound to music, they fall short. The sound is very muted, very quiet. So much so as to not be heard during normal conversation levels. Great for kids playing in the samne room, not so great for adding to a jam session.

No one in my immediate circle is musically talented but we all love a fun singalong. I got these to go with my ukuleles and other beginner instruments for silly evenings around a campfire or similar. And I love them! They are just beautiful to look at - the simplicity is so charming, especially compared to other maracas that are just garish, and the sound is perfect without being too loud. They would be cute tied up with a bow as a gift for anyone who enjoys rhythm - and isn't that everyone?
