The reason I replaced the gas valve was because the furnace would cycle on / off without reaching the desired thermostat temperature. I read a lot of theories, on the Internet, about "cycling", but nobody ever suggested replacing the gas valve.The original gas valve's make and model# did not match anything I saw on Amazon. So, based upon the specs I read on the web site, based upon the brand name, and because it was an Amazon Prime item, I ordered the Honeywell. I have never replaced a gas valve before. I was a little concerned about how difficult the old valve would be to remove. As with most mechanical things, if you can take it apart cleanly, you can usually put it back together cleanly. So, with a little help from my workbench vice, the old unit spun off the burner unit easily. The new one installed perfectly. Because it was ordered through Amazon Prime, it was sitting on my front porch in 2 days...plenty of time to get that old furnace running again before the heating season began.
