This rig definitely turns heads—you'll get compliments all the time! I’m really impressed with it. The description is spot-on, and even someone with little tech knowledge can quickly figure out how to use it and connect it to your phone. You can even mount a DSLR if you prefer. I especially like the multiple shoe mounts for adding extra gear like a microphone.It’s also much brighter than I expected and has excellent battery life. The battery and charger are solid (USB, but no wall adapter—you’ll need to buy that separately). For the price and value, I’d say it’s absolutely worth every penny.

I'm a tattoo artist, and I use this rig for taking photos of my tattoo work (in conjunction with additional varied studio lighting). This is a game changer for sure! Super easy to set up and use. The single battery it comes with holds a good charge and I like that it should be easy to purchase additional batteries (or replacements.)My only qualm is that the screw-on smartphone holder that comes with it tends to loosen up pretty often. I figured it's from the weight of the phone as the rig is being moved around through the air when being used lending to loosening of the screw. But seeing as this is literally the intended usage of the rig, I wish the mount were more sturdy. I might have to buy a different tripod phone mount to swap out.

This light is perfect for product photography, the quality of the light and the materials are amazing, it feels sturdy and it's lightweight. I had not trouble maneuvering the light around to get good results and since it has the option to attach it to a tripod you can use it as a ring light replacement, however I found it gave me better results maneuvering it myself.You can adjust the color temperature and the intensity of the light, the results as you can see in my photos is very nice. I tried to attach my mirrorless camera, but I wasn't able to make it work with the Bluetooth trigger, so I did not have the best experience with it that way. I think this is mainly focused for phones, which for a beginner getting into photography or product photography works as an amazing light to start with.It includes one battery, but you can use two batteries for longer sessions. I absolutely love it! I wish it had the capability to sync with mirrorless cameras but for all this offers I can't complain and with the current quality of phone cameras you can get excellent results!

This Neewer smartphone cage/light does exactly what it promises. It allows you to mount a smartphone inside of it and a microphone (or up to three other cold shoe-based accessories) on top of it, similar to a cage you might use with a more expensive camera. It offers 1/4-20 tripod threads on three sides: three along the bottom, two along the top, and one on the side to provide maximum flexibility when mounting the cage to a tripod or when mounting other things on the cage. (For example, it would be relatively easy to mount multiple Falcam F22 clamps using these connection points for quick attachment and removal of accessories.) And Its two side grips made it easier to hold steady. Although I compared this product to a ring light in my description, the various attachment points as well as the way it is designed to be gripped make this product much more than a just a light for your smartphone.That said, let's talk about the light. The design is similar to a ring light in that it seeks to eliminate shadows on your subject. But the character of the light that falls on your subject is a little different. A ring light generates glowing circles in your subject's eyes. This cage will generate two light bars. A ring light will often create a telltale shadow that outlines your subject. This cage does not. However, a ring light will cast a more shadow-free even light on your subject's face. I found that eyeglasses could create odd shadows when used with this product. If I wanted a light for selfies and I wore glasses, I would probably opt for a ring light despite the other advantages of this cage.Speaking of selfies, this cage works great when recording someone else but I probably wouldn't use it to shoot myself handheld due to its bulk, though it would work fine mounted on a tripod. I often use an 11-inch iPad Pro for conducting Zoom meetings. The light would be perfect for this application if only the iPad fit inside the cage. It doesn't. This cage is not designed to be used with full-sized iPads though an iPad Mini would work just fine with it. (You'd need a different holder than the one which is supplied in the box.) The phone clamp attaches to the inside of the cage with a 1/4-20 screw. This allows it to be swapped out with any other clamp, holder, or small device with a 1/4-20 thread on it. A GoPro, for example, would work great with this cage/light.The temperature of the light is adjustable in 100 Kelvin increments from 3200K to 5600K. Brightness is adjustable from 0-100. The light is bright enough for any subject within a meter. This makes it well suited for product or document photography as well. My home uses recessed lights in the ceiling which create multiple shadows. Photographing anything indoors is a hassle. This Neewer cage/light solves the problem. I expect that photographing objects or documents (e.g., depositing checks using my smartphone) will be my most common use of this product.The Neewer cage/light comes with an F550 battery and charger. It also works with F750 and F970 batteries. I tested the cage with an F970. Sadly, the included charger uses an awful USB Micro plug rather than a modern USB-C plug. (Nothing screams "outdated" like a new product with an old school USB Micro port.) This is the only negative to what is otherwise a great product. I was tempted to deduct a star from the rating but ultimately decided that this would have given too much weight to this one issue. The cage/light can also be powered by an AC adapter (not included).A Bluetooth trigger is built into the cage to allow the user to trigger recording or capture without having to touch the attached smartphone. A third-party app is not required for this. The user need only to pair the cage with the smartphone.The bottom line is that this Neewer cage/light is a well-built, quality product that is easy to recommend. It serves multiple use cases and works exactly as promised. If you need a cage with built-in lighting for shooting yourself or others, handheld or on a tripod, or for shooting objects and documents, this product is a solid choice.
