I have the Hollyland Lark Max, and the cold shoe is too big to hold the mic receiver. It just slides right out. If you have this mic, look for another cage or buy and adapter. I just ordered an adapter and will update this when it comes in.Update!!!! You will in fact need an adapter for the cold shoe, if you are using the Hollyland Lark Max as the cold shoe is too large and the receiver for the mic will slide out.

I often wondered if there could be a product where you could attach a light or a shotgun microphone to your action for a camera. By doing a simple search on Google I came across this product and I was blown away. You can technically attach anything you want to this camera and create a very sophisticated rig that could easily have a light and a shotgun microphone. It is a bit expensive and a shipping took a long time, but it was worth every dollar that I paid. Disclaimer, all the accessories that you see attached to the case were purchased separately. I just used a few of them for you to have an idea of the multiple options that you can have with this case.

A very high quality aluminium alloy frame for the Action 4. Access to everything, including the battery and micro SD card, via a door. The camera never has to be removed from the frame for all normal procedures. Adds substance, and protection for the camera.

This cage fits perfectly, is light and has a cold shoe adapter in the right spot. The best part is the design of the side where the usb port is. The metal is thinner allowing me to put my wireless mic adapter from Hollywoodland flush with the camera unlike other cages that I tried and returned. Great value compared to the other cages available for the Action 4 while also being the best.

This is a strong & robust metal frame that is also very slim & light weight. My full camera build (Tripod, Ball head, led light & filter) for Vlogging came together well with is cage.

I've had it on the camera for over a month now running back and forth to shoot high school volleyball games mostly. It's fairly well engineered with the way the doors open and running a backup battery in on a usb c has not been impeded by the cage. Having the cold shoe mounts is nice if you have the DJI mics or mount a better small shotgun like the Rode video mics.

I have two Osmo Action 3 cameras that I mainly use for mountain biking. I already have a metal case from another brand for one of them but wanted a second one. I saw this one from Neewer and thought I would give it a try. This case is on par with my other one and feels nice and strong. The button to start/stop recording is a bit firm for my taste however it's solid and doesn't stick. I have nothing to test the cold shoe mount with however it's basically the same size and shape as my other case. The addition of the standard tripod thread mount is also nice should you not have a magnetic mout available for your tripod.My only "negative" that I have about this mount is that it's a bit tighter than my other one. It took a bit of extra effort to press the camera into the mount. I'm also not sure I like the locking mechanism because of the little nub that sticks out. It's nice and strong though and I don't feel it will accidentally open. My other one is a full finger press down button and a bit easier to open.Overall this a great product and one that will help protect your camera better than the standard plastic DJI one. Definitely recommended if you beat your camera up like I do.
