NICHE CYLINDER

NICHE PISTON
An ATV piston is a component of engines, pumps, and gas compressors. It is located in a cylinder and is made gas-tight by piston rings. In an engine, its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft through a piston rod and or connecting rod
Piston Anatomy
A piston is a cylindrical engine component that slides back and forth in the cylinder bore by forces produced during the combustion process. The piston acts as a movable end of the combustion chamber. The stationary end of the combustion chamber is the cylinder head.
Piston Components
ATV Piston components include the piston head, piston pin bore, piston pin, skirt, ring grooves, ring lands, and piston rings. The piston head is the top surface of the piston which is subjected to tremendous forces and heat during normal engine operation
NICHE GASKET
A gasket is a mechanical seal which fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression.
Some Types of Gaskets:
- Head gaskets create a seal between the engine block and cylinder head. This seal establishes a proper compression and prevents fluid leaks into the cylinders
- Base gaskets create a seal between the top-end of your engine and the engine cases. Stop pesky engine oil leaks before they cause permanent damage to your engine.
- The valve cover is sealed to the upper section of the engine cylinder head by a valve cover gasket. As it passes around the camshafts, rockers, and valves, the gasket stops engine oil from seeping out.

The packaging was very detailed and the products looked to be handled carefully. I hate not using OEM, especially on HONDA things but NICHE products are starting to grow on me. I have 10+ of these NQ50 scooters and these parts are becoming less and less available, If you are looking for a reasonably priced replacement I would HIGHLY suggest you buy this.

Workshop great, be sure to check ring end gap. Broke a ring before because they where too tight.

It lasted a week and blew up like every other one of these aftermarket Chinese piston kits for the Sprees. Rings don't hold up, will not buy again.

I bought this set for my 1985 Honda spree. The quality is there and fits perfect. After installing these parts the motor had excellent compression and started right up.

Purchased this kit for a 1987 Honda Spree NQ50 scooter that had score marks on the cylinder beyond repair.Took about 1 hour to install, engine runs better then ever.

An exact fit with good quality machined parts, however there were no instructions with the parts, you will need to review the service manual for help. One issue is the kit does not include the second piston ring expander, as originally used by Honda. I tried to reuse from the old piston, but his makes the ring outside diameter too large for the bore. I removed the expander ring and everything fit well. Another issue is the identification of the top and bottom ring, you have to be looking with magnification to determine the difference, it would have been nice to identify these and which side is up. And one last complaint, the head gasket goes on with the embossed bead pointing up, again no help for lack of instructions.
