NICHE CYLINDER HEAD

  • A cylinder head is usually located on the top of the engine block
  • It serves as a housing for components such as the intake and exhaust valves, springs and lifters and the combustion chamber
  • The passages in the cylinder head allow air and fuel to flow inside the cylinder while permitting the exhaust gases to flow out of it
  • The cylinder head uses a gasket that aids in preventing water or oil from leaking into the combustion chambers

Normally I am VERY skeptical of aftermarket parts. I bought a cheap, beat up, Honda rancher that had been sitting outside for 12 years with substantial cylinder head and cylinder problems. After pricing new Honda OEM parts it was cost prohibitive not to take a chance on trying a niche cylinder and cylinder head. I removed the valves thoroughly, cleaned out the cylinder head and cylinder, installed OEM Honda the valve seals after lapping the valves before installing it. I just put it on the other day it runs and idles great. I really recommend lapping the valves because it did not appear that they were fully lapped when I disassembled the cylinder head.
