Nikon has come a long way. This is one of the best prime lenses that I have owned. The sharpness is phenomenal! Up next is the 85mm 1.2 as soon as I can afford it.. lol

The NIKON NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens is a game-changer! The image quality is outstanding – it’s noticeably sharper, with better contrast compared to the Nikon 50mm f/1.8S. The bokeh is incredibly smooth, and the overall clarity and richness of colors make this lens a true standout. This lens is perfect for low-light situations due to its ultra-fast aperture, and it really delivers on both portrait and general photography. While the price point is higher than the 50mm f/1.8S, the extra performance and quality are absolutely worth it.If you're looking for a lens with exceptional sharpness, more contrast, and a unique look, this 50mm f/1.2 S is hard to beat. It’s a fantastic addition to any Nikon Z mirrorless camera setup! Highly recommend.

This is an excellent lens, love the shallow depth of field, focus and light. This is an amazing professional lens especially when I put it together with the newly released Z6iii.

Optically speaking this lens is excellent. On par with Canon, Sony, and other brands 50mm 1.2 primes. My complaints would be the build quality. Technically speaking this lens is heavy, so you'd think it's heavy duty. This is a unique case where heavy most certainly is not better. The lens focus ring, buttons, and general plastic feel are cheap. It feels like how $300 nifty-fifty lenses felt 10 years ago. Massively disappointing in build quality, Sony's 50mm feels a lot more solid. The digital display on the lens is low resolution, somewhat inaccurate, and the biggest problem of all, the display has a significant delay.Let's say for example you want to set the aperture using the ring to f2.2, good luck. With the delay being as bad as it is you'll end up overshooting or undershooting constantly. It feels like a cheap gimmick, and it just doesn't work very well. I'd much have preferred a regular aperture ring... I just have no idea what they were thinking.Decent optics, awful ergonomics.

Use this all the time for portraits. It’s so crisp and came within 1 day of ordering. It’s kind of heavy but worth it for the photos you get

This lens is super sharp. The amount of details you get while it’s wide open, is just amazing. Paring this with the Z system, I can short in low light and no issue. There is some vignette, which is expected being open 1.2. Overall, I really recommend this lens for every day use and portraits.

The lens is quite large but it’s a 1.2 so that’s to be expected. I just threw it on and took some photos of my dog in the backyard to try it out and it’s pretty astonishing at 1.2. I also included a photo with it with a z8 for size reference.

The best sharp and clear lens The f/1.2 aperture creates an amazingly sallow depth of field that can be very easily harnessed to ensure the viewer's attention is drawn straight to the subject.I Really loved the total outcome and highly recommend for wedding and product photographers.

I shoot portraits and have been waiting for this lens since they announced it! Is 1.2 necessary? No. Absolutely not. But oh is it so nice to have. Video quality is so good and picture is sharp edge to edge even at 1.2!! Large and heavy but a small sacrifice for picture quality.
