The cork/leather has a great texture as well as good damping, whichever side you put up. The "leather" appears to actually be leather. I've never been one to really base my opinion of slip mats on sound quality. I know they can have some different subtle effects, but I'm more interested in "feel" and cleanliness. My primary player has acrylic on top of cork, with cork and rubber on other players.The thing I want to point out here is that there is no indent in the center for the record label. Thicker records may only make contact in the center and potentially "float" above the slipmat everywhere else (not necessarily bad?). Thinner old "floppy" vinyl might make contact at the center and around the outer edge and float in between (I haven't checked). Many people use (and many sellers offer) slipmats with no center indent, so I'm not faulting this product for being no different. It's all a matter of opinion/preference.I love the texture of this, and the leather side will show dust so you can keep it clean. The two layers seem to be bonded very well and cut very neatly. At 4mm, this is kind of thick compared to some slipmats (and there are thicker out there as well). Be careful if you're replacing a thinner/thicker mat that you're not throwing your tonearm geometry out of whack!

This Turntable Slip Mat is a great add on for my turntable, since the turntable is not full size and this mat will give my records some stability for better quality music...
