I bought this to try to imitate McDonald's McMuffin as prices there have just gone through the roof. With a little bit of practice and a few tips online I think now I make one even better than the original. Great product if you're looking to make round eggs.

This is a very useful item but read on.Wash this product by hand, with the non-stick surface it takes only seconds to wash; it may be dishwasher safe but you may not get the best use from the product if you do.As others have mentioned they will rust but only if you put them in the dishwasher. The other thing that will happen is that they will lose some of there anti-stick ability because the dishwasher detergent will have somewhat of a etching effect on them but they can still be used by coating the surface with butter, oil, or cooking spray. I preferred to purchase new and learn from my mistake.I have never found any non-stick surface to keep an egg from sticking to it without some kind of butter, oil or cooking spray but putting it in the dishwasher will only make this fact more provable, as for the rust I had read the warnings from others and so I was washing the rings by hand but my wife hates anything that she cant put in the dish washer so of course she put them in the top rack of the dishwasher and at first we found no problem but not long after the sticking started and soon after the rust followed. With use and after putting them in the dishwasher I have found that it is best to only put the ring in the hot pan just before you add the egg and your choice of cooking oil, butter or cooking spray because if you put the oiled ring in the pan at the same time that you begin to heat the pan then the butter, oil or cooking spray will of lost most of its ability to prevent the egg from sticking to the surfaces. The fact that this version of the cooking ring doesn't have a handle to lift it from the egg has both advantages and disadvantages the disadvantages will need to be over come with some ingenuity: I have a very small set of tongs that I use to lift the ring from the egg but you may find other ways I have just pulled the egg with the ring out altogether and separated the egg from the ring on a plate. The advantage is that there is no handle to get in the way of a lid.If you are hoping to reproduce that famous fast-food-golden-arch muffin-egg sandwich I would suggest looking through a YouTube search because using any cooking device is all in how it is used. I found some that were very helpful but found in the end it was from trial and error that I was able to fine tune the perfect egg sandwich.

Got tired of trying to fit square-pegs into round-holes ... so wanted round eggs for my English muffins. Shopped the various ring types available, and decided on these. I feel the best way to prevent egg leakage/flash is too fully preheat both the pan & rings prior to cooking, so wanted metal rather than silicone rings. I also prefer to cover the pan for more even cooking, so avoided those rings with wire-handles sticking up.The Norpro 666 rings came closest to what I was looking for. With its full-sized diameter of 3-1/2 inches (9 cm), the resulting egg-patty fills a standard English muffin with the egg going all the way out to the edges. The 1 inch (2.5 cm) height is tall enough to easily hold 2 or 3 eggs (but I've only used for 1 egg at a time). Lower edge is rolled-outward & upper is rolled-inward, making for nice smooth edges and a sturdy ridged construction. No rough metal seams/welds are visible, and the nonstick-coating is smooth & even. The nonstick-coating is also thin, so I wouldn't recommend handling these rings with metal utensils that could scratch. Washing by hand is also recommended in the product description. The rings are heavy enough to stay in place on the flat-bottom of a frying-pan or griddle (a FLAT cooking-surface is critical for a good egg seal). My egg-cooking method:- Place 2 rings onto flat-bottom of 10-inch pan (or 1 ring in 8-inch pan), cover and allow to preheat over medium heat.- Spray rings & pan with nonstick cooking spray (spray can burn if added too soon), then gently add 1 whole-egg to each ring (could also substitute 2 egg-whites). Break and swirl-in the yolk, then season (salt/pepper) to taste. Note: While I luv soft-yolks, I've found they can easily get very messy when sandwiched between a toasted English muffin (bite one side, soft-yolk squirts out other side).- Place cover on pan and cook until most of egg is firm.- Remove rings (nylon-tongs work great for this, but can also flip ring up by its upper rolled-edge), then briefly flip egg patties over to finish cooking.- Place egg onto lower half of toasted/buttered English muffin (or buttermilk biscuit). Add a half-slice of American cheese and your favorite meat product (e.g. warmed ham-slice/Canadian-bacon, cooked sausage-patty, crispy bacon-strips).- Top with other half of muffin (or biscuit).Enjoy!!! Every bit as tasty as that famous food-chain serves (for $3 each), and the rings quickly pay for themselves while making these treats at home for maybe $1 per sandwich.I do usually get a tiny amount of raw-egg leakage/flash under the ring, but VERY little if ring is preheated so egg seals itself in almost instantly. I've been happy with these Norpro 666 rings (for the $3 each price), and would probably give 5-stars if dishwasher safe.Always appreciate feedback ... If you found this review helpful, please feel free to give it a 'Yes'. Thanks.6-month update:Rings are holding up well. Found eggs don't always release cleanly, usually need to loosen egg around the inside edge before lifting ring. Some egg does buildup inside the rolled edges, but this mostly hidden buildup gets recooked each time and doesn't contact the new egg anyway. I've added 1+1/2 eggs to each ring for that extra thick patty - need to cook a little slower with pan covered then flip after removing ring, but does the job.

Tested this with the Egg Muffin breakfast. I put my "I can't believe it's not butter" in the ring and it stays within the ring only before I put in the egg(s). I like doubling the egg whites for the protein, so I put two eggs in a bowl and spoon out one yoke. I then pour the egg into the ring when ready. I have to put a little pressure and hold down the ring for 5 seconds (with my fingers as its not that hot yet) and thereafter, nothing squirts out the ring sides with no pressure. It cooks very well on a non stick pan. I like my eggs sunny side up so after about two minutes on medium, I remove the ring (with tongs as it is hot at this stage) and flip with a spatula for another minute while turning the heat off (electric stove). Only very little gets away from being a perfect ring after flipping the egg circle. It fits perfectly the size of the Muffin and about half the yoke is still liquid which I think is perfect. Cleaning is as easy as a non-stick pan and very quick. Even if yoke got out in the pan and on the ring, it will be very easy to clean. Tested with one egg just one time as well without issue.
