CHOOSE THE RIGHT RUG SIZE
LIVING ROOM
For larger rooms, select a size that allows for all furniture to rest entirely on the rug. For smaller rooms, use a rug size that allows all furniture to be positioned off the rug or with only the front legs on the rug.
BEDROOM
For a coordinated look, you’ll want a large rug that frames your bed and night stands. Consider the size of your bed(s) and aim for 18 inches of rug to step onto on both sides of any bed. An alternative layout is to “sandwich” the bed with runners on either side.
DINING ROOM
Consider the size of the room and your dining room table, including the number of chairs. Rugs should be laid to expose at least 18 inches of exposed floor around the perimeter of the room. Leave 18 to 24 inches of rug around the table to allow for chairs to get pushed back.
RUG CARE AND CLEANING TIPS
VACUUM REGULARLY
Use a quality vacuum without the beater bar setting as it can pull or snag. Vacuum high traffic areas more often. Rug shedding is common with some newer rugs but this will lessen over time with regular vacuuming.
SPOT CLEAN AS NEEDED
Clean spills immediately by blotting with a clean, dry white cloth. For hard to remove stains we recommend that the rug be professionally cleaned.
USE A RUG PAD
A non-slip rug pad’s primary benefits are safety and cushioning. However, it also prolongs the life of your rug and makes it easier to vacuum.
TAME THE SHAG
A great tip for cleaning a shag rug is to turn it upside down and vacuum the back with the beater bar setting. This will shake loose all the dirt and dust. Once done, move the rug and vacuum up all the dirt that came loose onto the floor.

Each side has a different texture and the side that I put on top is bristly for lack of a better term and really grips the rug. The bottom is more felt like but it holds it securely to the floor. I actually came to Amazon to find one for a bigger rug.

The sales information states, "Extra cushion helps keep rug pile in great shape longer, and the reversible pad allows use with either hardwood or carpet flooring." When the padding arrived, it was a paper-thin 1/8 inch thin. Where's the "extra cushion"? The seller was careful not to mention how thin the padding is in the sales ad, so their advertising, as outlined above, prompted us to purchase a product that was different from what was advertised.

Manufacturer's dimensions on the one I purchased are 7'6" x 9'8" x 0.25. This pad is NOT 1/4", it is only 1/8" thick. Therefore, I am not getting the luxurious feel to my carpet that I would have with a thicker pad. Disappointed, hence the 4 stars.

Our area rug is being held in place on our brick floor! Also thick so it's vaccuming up nicely! It was easy enough to unfold and flatten. It cut very easily to custom fit to the size of the area rug we bought.

This pad came without any packaging - just shoved into an Amazon shipping bag. It had clearly been hacked off of a bigger piece - the ends were so crooked that it was useless. It was also extremely thin and had so much adhesion, I would be worry about putting it on hardwood floors.

We are full time RV'ers and I have tried everything to get our area rug to stay put! ... to no avail. They would just slide or wrinkle and I found myself bending down to pull and straighten the rug more than 10 times a day. Ugh! I was over it and began a quest to find a solution. I tried many things like putting carpet adhesives down and weighting the corners etc. but nothing worked. Then I discovered this godsend... the non- slip mat that goes underneath my area rug works like a charm. I was skeptical because I'm covering carpeting and nothing else I tried worked. What a pleasant surprise! It holds my 5x7 area rug like cement. I no longer have to bend down to straighten my rug. Excellent product!
