I typically stock at least 5 of the NSK cogged idlers. My vendor ran out and I had a few timing jobs coming up so I figured I’d try Amazon. I opened the box to make sure there wasn’t any substitution given for the NSK and was pleasantly surprised to see two Subaru boxed idlers! NSK makes Subarus idlers so it’s the same exact part either way but still a nice surprise.

The bearing on the left is the new one, the one on the right is the original. The new one purchased here has two rows of bearings instead of one row like the original. All of the offsets and dimensions are correct and works perfect, I measured everything prior to using. Thanks for a quality part with the double row of bearings. The teeth on the cogged pulley are exact ! Will use this part again on my next Subaru timing belt change. Note: I measured from backside edge of pulley to mounting boss surface at .095 " (give or take a small amount) on the original and it was the same measurement on the new pulley. I also measured the boss thickness (this is where the bolt goes through) at .950" for the original and the measurement was the same on the new pulley. I have purchased three of these pulleys and all measure the same ! With any critical parts it is always a good practice to double check measurements old part vs new, don't assume anything even if you bought the parts at a dealer. Measure and inspect closely. Great parts... fair price... Quality ! ! Note this was installed on a Outback 2.5l SOHC .

Like one of the reviewers already mentioned, this design is a little different: two bearings instead of one which suppose to be better. The time will tell. It was installed on my 2010 Forester.
