We have been having trouble with the AC on my wife's car. I tried topping off the freon but couldn't get the compressor to cycle. We took it to our mechanic, who had us replace the control unit in the dashboard, to no effect. This did the trick. Even if you are the kind of backyard mechanic who relies on ViceGrips and WD40, this is definitely worth trying for the small price.
