These are the best style of oil catchers I have found for outdoor use. I have an old crane truck that has a slow drip of hydraulic fluid that I just can't repair right at this time. I basically have to build the shop I can fix it in as I am in a very, rural location. But I hate to see the truck dripping oil on the ground so, I found some large plastic sheet pans and these socks to keep the oil contained. The great thing about these socks is, they DON'T get soaked with rain water. They let the water run by and only pick up the oil. Perfect for me since I don't have a way to keep the truck out of the rain yet either. I would imagine these would be great as oil booms for ponds or creeks too. WAY better than Oil-Dri!
