This is not freeze dried or dehydrated - this pretty much like a brick pack of food only with a heating element. This is 200 calories & it's 2x heavier than a freeze dried or dehydrated meal so more weight to carry & you're gonna need more. AND ... it's more stuff to pack out. On the plus side, it's ingenious, all-inclusive & the ingredients are pretty decent. However ... it doesn't taste great - it tastes like kiddie mini cans of pasta. It's not *BAD* ... it's just not ... good. I'm happy I tried it as it's ... I can't say this enough ... ingenious. But we don't plan to buy these again.

So first off the taste is actually pretty good but the biggest issue is the amount is seriously lacking. For any meal I plan to take into the woods or have in my car for an emergency I want something that is at least filling. There was what seemed to be more like a 1/4 cup of food and after eating it I felt like I was still hungry. Not too impressed
