I got this tool to change my DEF pump on my Dodge Ram 2500. Before I broke down and bought this I beat on the lock ring for 4 hours with a hammer and a punch could not get it to budge. Thankfully, the shipping was fast and the price was good. Definitely worth every penny. When it arrived, I got to work and part was off in less than a 1/2 an hour after delivery. It is easily adjustable to fit your ring. The trick is to get it in place and then tighten all of the locking boats in place tightly on the ring. Then put a large rachid or breaker bar on it and turn in the appropriate direction. In my case, I also needed a 3 foot cheater bar. Man this thing is strong and durable. If you are doing a DEF pump on a Dodge Ram. I would suggest you get this right away. Because it is locked in there tight. I needed the 3 foot cheater bar for removal and installation.

Purchase this in desperation. Had ordered a previous one that was supposed to fit my truck and it didn't. Returned it. The jam situation, the old lock ring was rusted out, and stuck to the tabs. tried everything but a sledgehammer, as I didn't dare risk breaking the tabs. Saw this product, and it stated universal. same day delivery. I'd been down 3 days because of the previous tool being wrong, and in a few hours we are getting substantial snow. ordered it, came in by 7:30 pm same day. didn't fit. got creative, as it says universal, took one leg off, realigned, and in 5 minutes the rusted ring came out. projected completed, put together , test driven by the time i got an inch of snow. (done in my driveway) 1 1/2 hours back on the road. product was very sturdy, considering I took one leg off. This was a fuel pump replacement on an 02 sierra 2500, tilting the bed up.

There was no way I was going to be able to take off the ring on my fuel tank on my 2012 bmw 328i using a screw driver and hammer based on how much force it took to remove it with this tool. I tried it before buying the tool and it's also dangerous to try when you have a gas leak like I did. This tool made it possible to do the job. There was no other way. The ring was really tight in there and when swapping out the tank seal it will be harder to compress so installing the ring was a headache. The tool did get finicky during re-installation of the ring because it has some play sometimes and if not installed on the ring perfectly you can't put the right torque. I used a breaker bar. There was zero chance my 1/4" shank impact driver would remove the ring so plan on using a breaker bar or a beefy impact. I used both at one point by inserting the breaker from the bottom and the impact from the top and still wouldn't budge. The angle has be just right and the tool has to be on the ring perfectly and you have to bang on the breaker bar. Thicker and longer screws on this tool would be better. If you don't plan on ever using this tool again it might be worth getting the exact one for your car without adjustable arms.

I'm sure if my lock ring was pristine there was a good chance this would work. Unfortunately it was rusted and despite using a rust-removal product, one of the adjustable bolts broke off under pressure. I ended up returning the item and purchasing a single-piece tool that worked great.

I needed a different tool, but modified this one to work. Looks like a school shop project, cut crooked, center hole did not take 1/2 inch drive, too small. I purchased longer bolts as another review suggested. I used a mill file to file the tips into rounds. Applied torque slowly and carefully, successfully removed ring and effected needed repairs. Not flimsy, thick and sturdy. Worked after tips were modified.Take care using the "My Garage" feature on Amazon, I thought Amazon said this was a match for the car I was working on, clearly it is not.Good luck, and stay safe.
