Used these while doing the West Highland Way. Used it as a tarp when wild camping and it held on very well during a windy night. Had them on in continuous light rain, and in moderate rain, and it kept us mostly dry. It can be a bit challenging in terrain where you're going in steep ascents or descents because it gets in the way. It can also get in the way when there's too much wind. However, it works very well to keep most of the rain out while allowing plenty of ventilation so we didn't feel too warm, even though it was summer (August). We had to keep taking them off and putting them on as the sun/rain alternated, but it was quick and easy after we got the hang of it.Also used them as ground sheets. They're quite sturdy and looked as good as new after 8 days of backpacking. They're very lightweight. We got the smallest size for 1.63m tall people and it was a good fit (forearms won't be completely covered, and with a pack it goes down to the knees). Colour green is nice and subtle. Unfortunately lost one of them in the train.

I spend weeks at a time outdoors. Between active duty and deployed defense contractor, I have 35 years DoD experience, and always packed out my old Army poncho, super versatile gear. Had the one wind in my shopping cart for a long time, and finally pulled the trigger. Initial evaluations make me wish I had got it a year ago. Looks well made, sturdy, lightweight, and much better gear than my old army somewhat flappy poncho. I am retired now , but volunteer doing long trail maintenance treks, and do invasive animals trapping as my hobbies now. This poncho might get a good workout starting this weekend at the annual Python challenge in Florida. The specific improvements over my Army gear appear to be weight of course, the ability to cinch up easily and be less flappy around the head, sleeves, legs, and the center strap that adds a lot of improved mobility and fit, especially if I need to wear it over my backpack. I will practice pitching as an emergency shelter soon, but I can tell by the build it's going to be an improvement over my old poncho as well, simply better coverage for less weight. In a sideways hard wind and rain with no shelter options, and you just have to hunker down in the open elements this should do a better job of keeping me and my stuff dry than any poncho I have owned or tried out.Definitely giving 5 stars for the product, but will make one small constructive criticism. The stuff bag is great to include, and I understand wanting to be minimalist with the product, but it took me about 10 minutes to restuff the poncho back in to the super tight bag. If I had another quarter inch on any dimension of the stuff sack I would be less whiny 😫 lol. Great product tho, totally recommend.

This poncho replaced my rain jacket in my bushcraft kit. The simple fact it's dual purpose is amazing. Nor only does ot provide me rain coverage it makes an amazing survival shelter with numerous pitching options. It has a plethora of other uses aswell. You can use this as a pack cover, ground sheet under a hammock or for cowboy camping, a make shift bivy, water catching, could even make a makeshift pack of your fails or a haversack to collect edibles, could even make a sail put of it for a raft if you had the drove and motivation. This ponchos uses are only limited by your creativity it's an amazing addition to any pack and a mainstay in mine going forward. The material is extremely durable and light weight and unbelievablely water proof. Onewond did an amazing job with this.

Overall, this is a really nice poncho and I can recommend buying it as long as you are aware of the small issues.Pros:1. It is extremely lightweight, to the tune of half the weight of a Columbia rain jacket I also own.2. It packs down very small (About the size of a can of soda. Maybe a bit taller but the same diameter.)3. It is absolutely waterproof. (Was out in the rain for 5 hours straight and remained bone dry underneath.)4. The Velcro closures are very strong down the sides5. The belt was surprisingly useful in keeping it from flapping around in the rain.6. The tie offs that make it a tarp seem very well anchored and solid (I did not get the chance to use it as a tarp but very much like the fact that it is a possibility)Cons:1. The space for your head to pass through is a bit on the small size. (If you have a larger head like me then it will be tight and you will have to take off any glasses you may be wearing)2. The hood is a bit small as well. (Same issue as the pass through for your head. I had to take off my hat, put on the poncho, then put my hat back on, and squeeze myself into the hood. This is confusing as there is an adjustment system for the hood which will make it smaller, but that feels like it is completely un-needed)Summary:I really like it and would recommend it for the many in-built features, but I would also warn that you may find the neck and hood quite tight. If you don't then this is an excellent product.

There is a reason that ex-military survivalists say that a poncho always goes with them. Of course, the ones they are generally speaking of are the heavy military variety, and whether you need that or something lightweight that packs small is a personal choice, depending upon your use. As for me, this sil-nylon poncho is exactly what I needed.I was going to upload photos showing the versatility of this poncho, but I had forgotten how well-done the sales page is. There is really nothing I can add to the photos and video there except my own observations and experience. What you see in the photos and video is exactly what you will get. The poncho is well-made and very lightweight for its size, and for something made from sil-nylon, the price is very good.I would like to remark about the guy who claimed you have to be small to use this. Either he got something different from what I received, or he must be the size of Andre the Giant. I am over 200 lbs and wear a large hat size, and I have plenty of room. One very important thing is that there is an excess of material at the neck area so that you can easily turn your head to both sides with the poncho tightened around your face, or with a hat on.The only thing I would prefer to be different is that the "stuff sack" is not really a stuff sack but a "fold it and roll it up as tight as you can before putting it in" sack. Once you get the poncho out, it is never going back into that sack, in my opinion. Camping companies like to do that to show how small the item can pack, and I understand that, but nobody is going to do what you have to do to get it back into that sack, IMHO. So I would prefer a larger (real) stuff sack that I could actually stuff the poncho back into without a lot of effort. The weight of the item without the "stuff sack" is 258g or 9.1 oz. Add to that the weight of whatever you decide to use to keep it in. I am using a gallon zipper bag. There is plenty of room to stuff it in there, and I can then squeeze the air out to make a small, flat package. There is one other use that I can see possible for hammock campers. I haven't tried it yet, but I believe that you could use the poncho as a wind-breaker for your hammock or as an underquilt protector. Just a thought. This poncho is going with me on every camping trip. Certainly for car camping, but it is also small enough and light enough for backpacking, as well. So, all in all, great job, OneWind! Well worth the price and 5 stars.
