Alloy: 6101 | Material: Aluminum | Shape: Full Round Edge Bar | Production Method: Extruded | Thickness: 0.25 inches | Width: 1.5 inches | Item Length: 12 inches Aluminum Full Round Edge Rectangular Bar 6101-T61 exhibits maximum electrical conductivity, excellent corrosion resistance, and moderate strength. 6101-T61 is typically used in electrical applications as a lower cost, lower weight replacement for copper. The most common application for this product is in the manufacture of bus bars. Aluminum is a lightweight, silvery-white metal. It is soft and malleable. Aluminum is used in a wide variety of products including cans, foil, cookware, window frames, beer kegs, and aircraft parts. It has low density, is nontoxic, has a high thermal conductivity, has excellent corrosion resistance, and can be easily cast, machined, and formed. It is also nonmagnetic and non-sparking. It is the second most malleable metal and the sixth most ductile. It is often used as an alloy because aluminum itself is not particularly strong. Alloys with copper, manganese, magnesium, and silicon are light but strong. Aluminum is a good electrical conductor and is often used in power transmission lines. It is cheaper than copper and weight for weight is almost twice as good a conductor. This bar of aluminum has rounded corners on the length side. Could not use it. I was expecting true bar stock. Oh well, I can use it for another project.
