Great little product. I was confused by the hook ups, as I was thinking I could bypass ARC from my soundbar to my projector (the projector is non-ARC) and using the volume control on the soundbar causes the projector to go to its menu and it's hard to switch back the HDMI input after it does this; took about 3 attempts and was a pain. So what I had to eventually do is hook up the soundbar via it's optical out to the extractor's optical output and plug the projector into the HDMI output of the extractor. No Atmos over optical but I never really used that, but the 5.1 sound and picture quality are excellent and no more issues with the ARC or CEC function from the soundbar as there was no way to turn it off. Very happy with it and solidly built.

I'm only using this for HD video, nothing 4K in my system, but it works flawlessly. It's odd that they included a wall wart power supply, when a standard USB power cable (USB 2.0 Type A Male to DC 5.5 x 2.1mm DC 5V Power Barrel Plug Connector) works just fine, and frees up an electrical outlet. I already have a multi-outlet USB charger plugged in, ready to go.

Hooked it up according to the directions and I get neither video out of this thing nor sound. I got this to hook up a sound bar using optical audio to my Xbox series x and the only signs of life I see from this black box is the link light for HDMI out and HDMI in.

I have had issues trying to get my firestick 4k to work with my projector and sound system. This converter extractor worked from the time I plugged everything in!!!! Only issue was that the power supply didn't have the "plug" so I could plug it into an outlet. I borrowed one from one of my other phone cords.

Does a great job with the AV signals. Well priced and compact. Extracts HDMI audio to multi-channel optical or L/R analog audio. Pass through optical up to 4K.

Got this to connect my soundbar to my PC (through optical cable) - I used the booklet it came with and the result was perfect - I have my monitor connected to the box, the box connected to my PC and an optical cable going in - sound is crisp and my soundbar can now get back to work. Thank you!

I purchased this product because my monitor does not have a 3.5 headphone jack so i had to find an alternative to get sound. The sound sounds great. I can't tell if there's a difference. As long i was able to get sound without purchasing a new monitor to play my Xbox. I was a bit skeptical about it at first, but i was happy I did purchase it. The only complaint I have is that you will have additional cables, so my desk set up looks messy with all my cables.

Just outside the warranty period and this unit is no longer working. I have other OREI products, and they work well for what I need. However, this one doesn’t seem to hold up as well as the others. It started with my TV no longer getting a signal, then it would come back intermittently, which is absolutely unusable. At first, I thought it was the cables, but after pulling this out of the lineup, everything worked again (well, except the audio, of course). Sadly, it works well but it doesn’t seem to last, as seen in other reviews. I hold out zero hope since it failed so close to the warranty period. Your mileage may vary, but expect about a year, if not less.

Ik heb het product gebruikt voor een Apple TV om het geluid naar actief analoge boxen te krijgen. Het geluid is goed, en het product ondersteund SEC HDMI in combinatie met TV. Ik raad dit product aan.

I hate HDMI. This digital format is supposed to make our life easier but in reality it just protects movie and music distributors for copyrights. The problem is that often newer HDMI versions are not totally backward compatible. About 10 years ago I purchased a top of the line Panasonic 65" HD Plasma TV, one of the last plasma TV. Still today this TV is giving extraordinary color images and nice contrast ratio. I had also purchased, about 5 years earlier, a top of the line Denon receiver that had HDMI support ; but its HDMI was not compatible with the newer Panasonic TV HDMI ports; I resorted to use the TV as the HDMI switcher and all worked well until this year when I changed my HD Apple TV to a newer 4K Apple TV. Now the movies were not playing in Dolby 5.1 but only in the inferior Dolby Pro Logic II format. No matter what I tried, I could not have the movies play Dolby 5.1. But my Denon is capable of even higher formats such as Dolby TrueHD, EX and most flavors of DTS surround. This is why I had to buy this Orei extractor that enabled at least Dolby HD AC3 to play 5.1 true channels on my Denon. It does not provide the best Dolby Digital format that my Denon can decode but at least, until I change my receiver and TV, I will get a good enough quality out of my Apple TV 4K.The Orei extractor just worked perfectly out of the box. This extractor is very small but housed in a metal box and it feels solid. Good value for the money. Hoping it will last a few years.

Man this product is amazing! Long story short I just recently updated my soundbar. Along with that also my Gaming monitor. Sadly the monitor does have any sound output besides the headphone jack and the soundbar doesn't have and AUX in plugin. But man this save me a ton work. Everything works perfect on this. the PS5 sound comes in perfect and the picture stays the same. I'm going to say that will also work with the next gen xbox also if you decide to go that route also.

Easy to connect with ports clearly marked. Remember to buy an extra hdmi cable as I assumed a short one was in the box but didn't check the description properly. Other than that, it works well and passes through audio clearly along with HDMI CEC signals to turn connected equipment on. There was zero lag which was great as out of sync audio on movies irritates me. Top product!!
