Ordered first scobey, brewed and began fermenting, little to no reaction, began to mold without forming a baby scobey, discarded. Though I’m a successful, longtime kombucha maker, assumed I must have contaminated. So ordered a same second scobey and began a new batch, carefully avoiding any possible contamination. Organic tea, organic sugar, and distilled water, an expensive batch but wanted success this time. Almost identical results and once again the moldy batch was discarded. There is no question in my mind that these are bad. Are they too old, cross contaminated or were they killed in packaging, who knows? But two bad ones in a row says stay away!

Good quality scoby. I have created batches and batches of kombucha with the one scoby and still going. I recommend it highly

I had a scoby that I had put in the fridge hoping I could use it later, but my batches were not coming out well. I just started with this new one and it was a good starter. It made a very normal baby scoby on my first batch.

Thankfully I purchased this SCOBY first rather than the other brand on here that is about the same price.This SCOBY is Big, Thick and Powerful. It worked as advertised and is starting to produce babies.I got another SCOBY from another vendor (same price) and it was so inferior that if I had tried it first, I probably would have abandoned the Kombucha project all together. Instead I am using this SCOBY to rescue that batch!Recommended!!!

I’ve been growing kombucha for decades, however the last few years I stopped and wanted to start up again. Kombucha scoobys are very hardy and can withstand quite a lot of abuse. As long as one follows the rules of hygiene and remembering to followhygiene rules. This one - um yes it’s active , but it has taken me a long while to get it as active as I want a fresh scooby is a lot quicker . Overall good but not great , but definitely after a week it ha created a think skin and I’m sure in about 2/3 weeks I’ll have something that will be producing a fizzy kombucha from green sencha and granulated which sugar
