My library students made origami corner bookmarks. They were fascinated with the designs.

I worked at a middle school and now I currently work at a FiveBelow store, I like making cranes as my fidget when I'm not terribly busy and people of all ages enjoy taking my cranes home with them. I loved the texture, I found that the folds could be very crisp if I got it just right. It's also a great paper for learning a new fold since both sides are different! A great value, I'm ready for a new pattern for my next 500 or so sheets but I will definitely get this one again too!

Although my first impressions were very good, I decided to wait until I'd had a chance to really test out the paper before writing a review. It arrived stacked with one of each pattern, then repeated, which is a little annoying... I decided to sort the paper into piles of each pattern, to make it easier when folding a model that requires more than one sheet. The paper measures 6" (15.24cm). Often origami paper is slightly out of square, which doesn't matter for some models, but is important for others... I'm pleased to say that this paper is very square, which is nice. I did a few measurements and found the paper to be approximately 64gsm and 73microns. It's important to note that the paper is patterned on one side and has a complementing colour on the other, I noticed some people thought that the paper was patterned on both sides. The paper folds nicely and holds a crease well, it folds to a crisp point without tearing. There's a slight smell to the paper, but that's to be expected, from the printing process, I can't imagine the smell being an issue. Included is a small leaflet of instructions, they are okay, but as someone whose practised origami for a number of years, they're not the easiest to follow! This is a shame, as it may put people off, especially if you are new to the hobby.I include a selection of pictures, showing models folded from the paper. The first 6 are the models included with the instructions and the last two are a modular piece (Bascetta Star by Paolo Bascetta, folded from 30 x 2" squares of paper) and a single sheet fractal (Hydrangea by Shuzo Fujimoto, folded to 4 and 6 levels, with a single 6" square each).Overall I'm very impressed with the paper, vibrant colours, that don't rub off or smudge, nice and thin, a joy to fold with and very competitively priced.

Bought for my 4th -grader grandson, to learn & practice some origami. The colors are nice and bright, and pretty patterns on the reverse side. As has been mentioned, there is a rather strong odor to the paper when first opened, but it was not unbearable. I actually left the packet on my table for about 2 weeks, unopened, and by the time I 'd wrapped it for gifting, the odor was greatly reduced. By the time we started using it, later that week, it was barely noticeable. Paper is also a nice weight and smooth texture.

Okay, lets get this over with. YES it does smell! But is it a smell worth sending the paper back and never buy again? No. Air it out a little bit, thats all you need to do.These designs are just beautiful! I love looking at them and it almost seems a shame to fold them! I can't wait to make such beautiful butterflies and other designs with it! It is the beautiful design on one side, and then a bright solid color on the back side which really adds to the design when you are doing one that uses both sides of the paper! The paper is a good quality. Really the only downside at all is the smell and I believe just a little airing out is all thats required if its to much for you to handle, personally the smell doesn't bother me all that much. Also, coming inside the paper is a little folded paper that comes with 7 origami instructions: Simple Swan, Star Box, Crane, Balloon, Samurai Helmet, and Kimono. They are easy to follow and simple to fold!

I was writing this and my browsers got closed . not sure why but I have parkinson's and hit wrong buttons sometimes........ so if it shows up twice sorryI thought the paper was a great buy it came packaged really well.I thought the colors were a little bright in the ad picture but not enough that it matteredIsn't a chiyogami or washi paper but wasn't advertized as suchI do a lot of modular stuff and do not like the white of the back side of the paper showing I thought the colors on the back matched the front well and it folded crisp and stayed and was easy to fold. I had to try a piece as soon as I got it. all in all a good paper at a good price. would but it again. good job

This review is specifically for Tuttle's 500 sheets of kaleidoscope pattern 6 inch origami paper.Pros: excellent weight, strength, texture, printed on one side, solid color on the other, all sheets are 6 by 6 and are square. The sheets are not glossy or too thick like the paper that is often in the origami 365 day calendars.Cons: The paper has a "paper mill" smell. I can smell it if I hold a completed model about 3 inches from my nose. The odor does not come off on your hands and fortunately it is not too bad.I've been folding origami for over 50 years and this is terrific paper to fold. It makes crisp clean folds, the dye does not come off. I made several traditional cranes with this paper, they had crisp pointed heads and tails that held their shape because the paper is the right weight and texture for origami. I like it so much that I've ordered another pack.
