This box was perfect for allowing us to add an outlet and light switch to a partially enclosed outbuilding. The box is rugged and the powder coating provides great corrosion protection. The lid is a great hood and allows you to leave right-angle cords plugged in but protected from the weather. It has a 20A GFCI for protection, which is important in a semi-exposed location. It has plenty of knock-outs and there is ample room inside the box to do your wiring. It was as easy to install as any other box I've installed. There's a lock hole if you need to make sure it stays closed. It's working well for us and it's a lot nicer to just flick a switch for light instead of plugging in a cord.

Heavy duty outlet box. Water resistant with a splash and bump guard. I think the main stand out here is the bump protection. Not going to test it but I would guess this could protect a plug and connection from up to a car backing up into it. This is a huge improvement over the plastic varieties. The water resistance comes more from the front guard and GFCI outlet as no seals or gaskets are provided (meaning it is not submersible). Comes with a GFCI outlet of reasonable quality. Provides a few different options for attachment points on the back though it weighs about 5 pounds so you will want to make sure the attachment/method point can hold up that amount of weight. If you are looking for an outdoor outlet that you install and then ignore this is probably the right one. The look is a bit bulky but I think that's probably a selling point. You cannot easily convert it to a 2-gang or a different type of non-rectangular outlet (would need a different metal plate).

I have several outdoor plastic outlet boxes but one developed a crack and you don't want to risk the potential for water and electricity to mix. This is a heavy duty metal box with plenty of knock outs and a nice included 20 A weather/tamper resistant outlet. Assuming you are mounting the back to a wall keep in mind it won't sit exactly flush and would require some caulking to prevent water from getting behind. The door mechanism is good for deflecting rain away from the outlets even when open and there is some bottom clearance so if you use a right angle style plug you should be able to have it plugged in with the lid fully shut.Keep in mind this switch box the switch is a standard additional receptacle and you can have it control something completely independent of the outlet. The outdoor switch I found quite handy as a quick control to our pond pump when we do our cleaning. It has many mount options including a pole mount with the big bottom hole or even a hook mount on the back. Now I wouldn't normally think you would hook mount this sort of box due to wiring but if you were running AC cable to it as well then maybe, the box itself does have a ground point one should be sure to tie into.Overall it has fairly decent weather protection, pretty easy install, and a nice double wide mount point for a nice outdoor box. The lock functionality could be nice too if you need to stop someone changing the switch easily (bottom access may still be possible).

Product is very well made, but accompanying instructions have a wiring diagram that is confusing at best and dangerous at worst … use your head when wiring!

Used it to run power to the outside of my shed. Comes all together to it’s more simple than buying a box a cover and an outlet

Right out of the box, I noticed that the metal enclosure wasn’t as sturdy as advertised. The lid was slightly bent, which made it difficult to close securely. I initially brushed it off, thinking it might just be a minor defect that wouldn’t impact performance. However, that assumption quickly proved wrong. After just two light rain showers, I was horrified to see the paint peeling off the enclosure, leaving parts of the metal exposed. The areas where the paint had chipped started to rust almost immediately, making the box look like it had been sitting outside for years instead of just a few days. For a product that claims to be weatherproof and suitable for outdoor use, this level of deterioration is unacceptable. On top of that, the bent lid didn’t provide a proper seal, which defeats the purpose of a weatherproof box. Moisture could easily seep in, raising serious concerns about electrical safety. The lockable cover was another disappointment—it felt flimsy and poorly constructed, offering little security or reassurance.
