Very nice and breathable jacket with really good water resistance. It is a little on the heavier side though and wish it had pit zips

I've had this jacket for 2.5 years, and used it sparingly for that time - doing my best to preserve it for the trips where I really need it. That means I'm bringing it on trips maybe 10-15 weekends a year, and using it on 3-5 of those weekends. I've washed it according to the care instructions (cool water & line dry) maybe 3x, mostly to remove woodsmoke smell.I really want to love this jacket. Like, really really want to love it. It's incredibly breathable, to the point where the lack of vents makes complete sense. It's an awesome lightweight shell for backcountry skiing, where you just want to vent your sweat and keep snow from dampening your warm layers.Where it fails, and fails miserably, is in proper rainstorms. This early summer (2023) has been a wet one in the northeast, so I've been caught in the rain on multiple hiking trips. The rain was persistent enough both times that I expect any jacket (short of a lobsterman's yellow rubber coat) would eventually fail. This jacket, however, failed quickly and spectacularly. Within 30 minutes of steady rain, my t-shirt under the jacket was absolutely soaked. It was not sweat (I wasn't especially exerting myself either time, and I don't sweat a lot anyway).If this jacket cost less than $150, I would give it 3 stars for its couple years of maybe-adequate performance coupled with amazing breathability. A real quality product. I'm a thrifty sod. Love a deal. Often I go for cheap rather than pony up the bucks for a quality item. This has changed in recent years as I have learned the value of a quality item. This is a quality item that I expect to last the rest of my lifetime. Fit is perfect. Seams are strong with very few stray stitches. Zippers are top notch. Has survived it's first downpour and kept me dry as Mr. Pillow's bank account. LOVE IT!
