The OXO POP Brown Sugar Saver is a reusable terracotta disk that brings an end to rock-hard brown sugar by keeping it soft and fresh. To use: soak the Saver for 15 minutes, pat dry and then secure to the underside of the POP Container lid. Re-soak as necessary to keep things fresh. Do not wash with soap. Recommended for use with the 1.1 Qt / 1.0 L POP Container, sized for 1 lb of brown sugar, and the 1.7 Qt / 1.6 L POP Container, sized for 2 lbs of brown sugar; also fits POP Containers with lid type: A, B, C, D, E. BPA free.

Okay, my partner thought I played a prank on him because the change in the brown sugar was so drastic. The key is that you just have to leave the keeper in the water for a long while in order to soak up the moisture. But yeah, our brown sugar went from completely solid to so soft. Miraculous. Actually works.

I had some brown sugar that was hard as a rock. I soaked the disk as instructed and attached it to the lid of a 1 quart Oxo New Grips Pop container and put the sugar in the container. By morning the sugar was so soft as if it had just been bought. I highly recommend using this if you like to cook a lot with brown sugar.

For years, I’ve tried every trick in the book to keep my brown sugar from turning into a rock after the first use. I’ve even bought other products claiming to keep sugar fresh and soft, but none of them worked. I’d constantly end up tossing the hardened sugar and buying a new package, even though I rarely need brown sugar. Enter the OXO Brown Sugar Keeper—a total game changer! A week ago, I transferred my hardened sugar blocks from the fridge into this container with the keeper, and this morning, I was amazed. The sugar was completely soft and fresh, almost like it just came from the factory. I can’t recommend this enough!

This clay insert for my brown sugar works perfectly to keep my brown sugar from getting hard and clumpy. It fits nicely under the lid of the oxo containers. It’s sturdy and a good value for the money because it does what it says it does. It’s a great design to fit the lid.

I've had this for a few weeks now and think that it works pretty well. Brown sugar stays a nice consistency and easy to measure. You do have to re-soak the terracotta piece every few weeks, but if you use the brown sugar frequently, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. One thing to keep is mind is that it seems to work best when all of the sugar is flat/on the same level. I did notice that when there is thin patch of sugar against the wall of the container (like what you see when scooping some out), that bit tends to dry out.

People-- read descriptions. First, the scoops I got were a 1/2 cup, which is an easy enough unit of measurement and for a serving size, one cup is actually a lot, Americans are so insanely skewed on what a "serving" is it is no wonder weight is such an issue these days, but I digress.For the brown sugar keeper- I don't own a special Oxo container, and I bought it knowing this and guess what? You can just throw it in a container! Wow!!! Just exactly like putting in a piece of bread or an apple to provide a bit of extra moisture (it adds moisture, doesn't remove it as some reviewers thought and were mad it didn't work 🙄) and yes, just like you have to replace the apple slice or bread slice, you have to rewet this with the laborious process of letting it sit quietly for 15 min in water and then dabbing it off. Again, people mad that you don't wet it once and it works forever...that isn't how life works, welcome to the grown ups table where you have to maintain things. For anyone who thinks wetting a disk and patting it off is too difficult, I recommend just making your own brown sugar on the spot- add a teaspoon or two of molasses to your sugar, stir, and wham- instant brown sugar.Use your heads people, be reasonable in your expectations, learn a trick or two and both the scoop and the brown sugar disk will serve you fine.
