This is perfect for the do-it your/shade tree mechanic. Not heavy duty like what you would expect to see in a fab shop, but perfect for home. It comes with pretty much everything but the bottles. The hose is a little short. I was unable to actually fire it off, because my oxygen bottle has leaked off.

Everything about this kit says “home use” or “home grade”. It works well enough in my little shop, but really, it’s a long way off for full-time or job site use. So, for its intended purpose, this is an okay kit that works just fine.This is where it gets expensive. Unless you already have tanks, plan on spending about $500 for a 40CF and 60CF initial bottle set at your local welding gas supply. After that, you trade in your bottles for refills and that is about $100 for the pair.Another option is to buy a nice new, pretty painted bottle set on Amazon for about $200, and again, another $100 to fill them. But really, nobody fills your bottles, they just trade bottles and keep your pretty ones. That’s a bummer.All told, between the torch kit and getting a pair of filled bottles your investment is at least $500.

I'm not overly impressed with this oxy acetylene torch. The gauges are pretty cheap. They don't feel like they would make it through a drop at all. The torch handle isn't too bad. It feels pretty stout and the trigger works well. The fittings are all pretty nice and the hoses are okay. The protective goggles are super cheap. The case is pretty cheap too. It does come with a couple extra tips is nice.

I’m not a professional welder or an expert on welding equipment, but this set seems to be of high quality. The gauges appear well-made, and the hoses are durable, though shorter than I had hoped.The torch is excellent it doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy, and it’s comfortable to hold. The included storage case is a great bonus, keeping the gauges clean and everything organized.

About 99% of the welding (and subsequent grinding) I do is in my shop, where I have my wire and stick rigs set up, so I don't do a lot of oxy welding or cutting, but when I need it, it's nice to have it, and it never hurts to have a backup, so when this set popped up, I grabbed it. Looking at all the fittings, they're all the same standard fittings as my other set, but the regulator knobs are a bit nicer and the gauge dials are bigger and a bit easier to read, which is nice as I get older and my eyesight starts reflecting my age. I'm not sure when I'll fire this up, but hopefully soon, and I'll try to post some pics. Either way, this kit has pretty much everything you need to get you up and running for basic torch work, so if you're just an occasional dabbler in the ancient art of metal joinery with actual fire, like I am, this is a pretty solid place to start.
