What is it?
A camshaft actuator solenoid, normally installed in the front of each cylinder head, is used to precisely control the flow of oil into the camshaft actuator. This changes the rotation of the camshaft to adjust valve timing and valve overlap on the go. These solenoids are used to control both exhaust and intake camshafts, creating the possibility of lower emissions and essentially decommissioning exhaust gas recirculation valves, as well as better performance and fuel economy.
There are lots of ways that your car will indicate there is an issue with the camshaft position actuator. The problem is that the same indicators are used to denote all sorts of other problems with the camshaft, its various parts, and the engine. The engine light may come on inside the car, the car may sputter or have trouble starting, or the car may ride roughly once it gets going. You’ll want to get this problem fixed as soon as you notice it.

How to replace a camshaft actuator solenoid?
Disconnect the NEGATIVE post on the car's battery firstly. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
Disconnect the intake camshaft position actuator solenoid valve wiring harness plug.
Disconnect the exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid valve wiring harness plug.
Unclip ECM wiring harness from camshaft cover.
Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve bolts.
Carefully rotate the intake camshaft position actuator solenoid valve counter clockwise.
Carefully rotate the exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid valve clockwise.
Carefully remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves and the seal rings.
Install the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves in reverse order.
*Note: The camshaft position actuator solenoid valves must be kept parallel to the engine front cover during removal and installation. The camshaft position actuator solenoid valves can be damaged if they become wedged or stuck during this process.

Well I put them in after I got off work which would be October 9th installed them on a 2015 GMC Terrain 2.4L Vehicle finds no issues but either did old ones after I cleared the error code. However I did notice that the intake old one I took out did have debris on it.Might be due for an oil change I'm not sure if the dealship did that before it was sold to me but it was a sold as-is. My Vehicle required a 8mm and a 10mm socket to take the cover off to get to the solenoids. I won't know how it preforms until I try and leave for work. If no update to this review is made then no issues will have come up.
