This works suprisingly well. Not nearly as fast a a true framing hammer with 16p nails. But for tight locations or areas where you can't get a normal swing, this is a good tool. The 0 to 90 angle works well and helps alot in tight situations. Magnetic and works just like the air palm nailers. In some situations I can see this being better than a palm nailer. You will not win any nail driving races. But for tight situations or someone who is not good at hammering, this is a good tool.

My Dewalt batteries fit and work. Nail is held by a magnet so you have to hold it to get it started. Does take a few seconds to drive the nail. I was going into soft pine so not sure how well it would do in hardwood. This is perfect for my mother to use for small projects. Also great for someone with bad shoulder or elbow who can't swing a hammer.

I have a wooden deck on my house, and every year I have to go around before winter and drive in whatever nails have started sticking up. I don't want them sticking up when I am trying to shovel snow off the deck, and it's routine maintenance to keep the deck in shape.This year I used this new auto hammer tool, and it was much easier. I could do it confidently in small spaces where I would be afraid to miss with a hammer swing and hit something else.It's strong enough for routine nail driving, and it was so easy I drove more nails this year than usual.DeWalt batteries compatible fit easily.

I have never been great at nailing - not to shame my gender, but as a woman who has had arthritis issues in my hands - my fingers and wrists - wielding a hammer effectively has never been my strong suit. I can tell you that I can hold a drill/screwdriver well enough. What I usually do is make a start - a small hole so that I have that "path" and then I push in while holding the button to make it go. Screw goes in and I feel good that I can do it. But not with a hammer...until this nailer! I still make a small pathway and then turn this on while pushing down. NAILED IT!!! Sorry, couldn't help the pun, but it works for me where as swinging a hammer does not. I did purchase a pair of batteries and the charger separately so be aware you have to either have similar batteries and a charger or buy one.
