Product Description

The PanaVise 380-RK is a repair kit specifically designed to replace torn or otherwise damaged vacuum pads that provide the stationary holding power for the PanaVise 380 vacuum base and the PanaVise 381 vacuum base vise combination. The kit includes a rubber pad, a handle for engaging vacuum action and a lock washer. To determine if the rubberized vacuum pad at the bottom edge of these products needs replacing, clean the pad with a clean towel and make sure that is free of debris. Then attach it to a clean, non-porous surface (such as a window). If it still loses suction, the pad needs to be replaced.

I have a vintage vise that stopped working. This replacement part fit great. I reused the original lever as it was easy to dissamble with a flat head screw driver, as a single screw was accessible through the front hole. Whole job took maybe 4 minutes. I may buy a spare and keep it sealed for a future replacement!

This kit is great. I've had my Panavice for decades. The suction pad had dried out and became useless. I figured there must be a way to replace just the rubber pad, but could never find it. By searching (and searching some more) I found this kit in the Panavise Store on the Amazon site. Yay team!It took about 5 minutes to do the replacement. Now I have a very good vice, again.

This is a replacement that provides suction for a Panavise stand. The original was 30 years old and became brittle. Same quality as I would expect from Panavise.

In the sixties I purchased a Craftsman vacuum vice. It was well used...for some time the vacuum no longer worked. It was used regardless. Recently, within the last week, it got to me, time to purchase a new vacuum vice. Went on Amazon and noticed the new vices had swivels, mine did not. Also, noticed they had replacement rubber pads that looked very similar to mine.Purchased a replacement pad; it was a little different...the metal integral with the rubber was different. The shape of the metal had a tab on top used to prevent the pad from moving, and the end of my actuating lever was fixed with a screw. Access to the screw was a hole opposite the vacuum actuator rod.Disassembled my vice and noticed the metal shape was different. Reassembled using the new pad. Yes!!! This design has definitely passed the test of time. IT WORKS GREAT!!!

Perfect fit for my grandpa's old made in the USA vacu-vice by general. If you have one of these little bench vices and the rubber is worn out this kit will save it to keep it working for years to come. It's 100% compatible with the old hardware too so no need to replace the old handle. Keep a soild piece of equipment working for another 50+ years.

Easy installation and brought new life to old vise. I was able to use original lever and screw so even better.

This Repaired my Vacu Vise by General. The rubber now seals fine and holds the vise firmly on any smooth hard surface. I have had this vise for a long time. Thank you Amazon for stocking this part and the fast service. Mel

Plus: Works well, restores vacuum base to like-new function. Straightforward installation, once you figure it out.Minus: No instructions were included; packaging should have included a pointer to the Panavise website, where a full-color full-page instruction sheet is hidden under "Product Spec Sheets". Still better, include a printed copy of the instructions in the box with the product.Biggest drawback is an intense acrid odor emanating from the new rubber pad, smelling like a tire warehouse. The odor is pervasive and unpleasant, and probably not good for your health. We resorted to banishing the repaired vacuum base to a less-used bathroom, and leaving the exhaust vent fan on 24 hours. A week later, the odor is fainter, but still obnoxious. We hope it will decline to a tolerable level in a few weeks. Fortunately, we have another well-aged but usable Panavise vacuum base to use in the meantime. If anyone from Panavise is listening, please store your new vacuum pads in a well-ventilated area, and let the smell dissipate completely (maybe in a month?). Don't try to add a sickly-sweet "masking fragrance" to the rubber; this does not dissipate the acrid odor, but merely tries to burn out one's sense of smell by overwhelming it with more chemicals that may be even worse for one's health. And have somebody who still has their sense of smell evaluate when the odor has dissipated. No smokers, perfume addicts, or scented product freaks should be given this important decision, since their sense of smell is already partially destroyed.Deduct one star for the noxious odor, which should be allowed to dissipate before shipping product to customers.Update in December 2014: After a year in well-ventilated exile, the replacement pad has finally declined to a tolerable, but still distinctive odor. As for the sneering comment by a newbie below, may you spend your happiest years in a tire warehouse. If you really enjoy the smell, I *recommend* this product to you, as it lasts at least a year. 8^)
