I have had it on my Yamaha 20HP for about 2.5 years now in the carribean and it has been maintenance free. Locks and unlocks after a year of not touching it. Rugged and I am very happy with it. Only downside is that it interferes slightly with the engine tilt release lever but it is easy to work around. I would buy again if I ever needed another engine lock.

Very heavily built OB lock.Thief will have to rip the transom off if he wants to steal it.

Took me a bit to understand how it opened but once I got it, it was easy. You definitely want a tight fit or it will vibrate on the engine mounts. But looks impressive as a deterrent for sure. Does sort of block the lever for lifting the motor up but I can still reach it. It’s made well and worth buying.

I owned the cheaper Panther lock made of powder coated steel and it corroded within a year or two to the point that it was worthless and not protecting my kicker motor in any way. I decided that I'd need to spend more money for a better lock but was unable to find any currently manufactured versions that I liked or that would fit in a similar manner...until I found this one. I purchased it in early Summer 2021 and have been in salt and fresh water with it and, so far, it's holding up well. It took some extra handling to install but if you follow directions it should fit well. Time will tell as to its ability to outlast the elements for more than a year or two. Fingers crossed!

The product is made out of stainless steel and the metal is thick - would be definitely be hard to cut. The idea is also valid, however this is where my good comments end.1. Manual. I know that I am not the only one with this issue as four small out of focus picture is NOT a manual. If you are going to follow Ikea's guidance - do it like Ikea does - step by step pictures with parts and options.2. The lick includes 3 pads: 2 thin and 1 thick. After messing with different ways to set them up I realized that the bottom part of the lock uses the thin pad and the upper part can use either thin or tick pad depending on the size of the outboard bolts. In my car the thin was was too thin and thick make the lock impossible to close. I ended up cutting the thick one to make it a bit thinner and now the lock fits snug.3. The 'secure' lock. Again, the idea is valid. I have CISA locks on my boat and no locksmith would touch that lock - I tried. This lock looks similar to CISA - definitely not as secure, but there is no reason to go crazy here. Here is a question though: why does the key fall out of the lock the moment it is turned to the lock position??? You do realize that some of us might decide to actually use our outboards on the water and this wonderful design will provide fish with entertainment and us with an experience of cutting off our fancy lock to remove the motor.Guys, it's fine to charge good money for a good product, but you need to concentrate on execution, not just design.

Had to work with it a little bit to get it on, but it went on without any alterations. It comes with several different sizes of double sided foam to make sure its snug. Put it on the 9.9 Yamaha on my Duckworth Pacific Pro. It rattles just a little, but not super noticeable. It is very sturdy and there is no way someone is getting that kicker off without making a whole bunch of noise. I highly recommend this product.

A bit difficult to open at first but another that it works well. I left my Honda 5hp engine outside all night at my holiday home at Zinkwazi Beach South Africa and nobody even tried to tamper with it. It was much better than having to lift the engine off the boat and put it inside the house every night. I only had to put the engine on once for the entire vacation there. It was difficult to demount at first but I made a video on YouTube on how to open it properly.

Had to cut off the square ring in the middle that was welded on. It does not appear in the diagram on the installation instructions. Not sure why it was there. Would not work with that welded on ring in the middle. But, it is on the boat now and it appears to be a quality lock that should protect my outboard motor from being stolen...

I looked long and hard for a motor lock for my small outboard. There are inexpensive locks of similar design that are reportedly easy to pry open, thus defeating the purpose. So, I forked over $100 for this one, which looked to be well made and is stainless (although there are many qualities of stainless steel, and only time will tell if this is a good one). It's made in Taiwan. The package arrived in a reasonable amount of time. It looks well made. The lock looks solid. I suspect it will confirm my guess that it is the best option out there. My complaint is this, which some of you may find irrelevant. The package has no written instructions. Only a series of four pictures. There are three pieces of foam enclosed, each with adhesive backing. One thicker than the other two. The pictures give you NO idea of where and how to apply the foam, and whether the backing is to be removed to reveal the adhesive. The pictures only show two pieces of foam. What to do with the third is my guess. I can tell you what I'd like to do with it.There are two L shaped brackets and I am guessing that one of the various sized notches will fit my outboard's tightening bolt. The actual mechanism of use of the large pieces is pretty obvious, but it would be nice to know where the foam and L shaped cheapo steel parts go.So, it seems like a good product. Not worth $100 in my book, but I found few options and my outboard is worth more. Of course thieves can always cut off the transom or remove the motor from the mounting brackets.I called the company to get some help so that my $100 investment was not used incorrectly. I had the pleasure of chatting with a grumpy old man who was barely articulate. He promised a call back. Still waiting. He clearly was not familiar with the product and had a very condescending tone which made me want to send the product right back.Anyway, the product looks OK. Customer service sucks. The year is 2012. That's what you get. So I'm HAPPY!!!!!PS If you find something better, go for it. The single bolt devices look OK but require drilling a hole in the transom.
