  • A trusted favorite for many years, Better Boy is a great performer with big hybrid-quality yields of succulent, juicy yet meaty tomatoes averaging about a pound apiece.
  • Start seeds indoors 5 to 6 weeks before the last frost date. Plant outdoors when danger of frost is past and night temperatures consistently remain above 55 degrees F.
  • If an unexpected late frost is forecasted, protect young plants with plastic sheeting or other cover. Set plants 2 to 2½ feet apart. Pkt includes 30 seeds
  • Better Boy holds a Guinness Book of World Records championship for yields (nearly 350 pounds of tomatoes from a single plant over a single season!), but that's not even the best reason to grow this classic favorite.

150 Years and Still Growing

Park Seed

One of America's oldest and largest mail-order seed and plant companies, the Geo. W. Park Seed Company, was founded in 1868 by 15-year-old George W. Park in Libonia, Pennsylvania. Today our gardeners number in the millions, yet we still adhere to Mr. Park's original motto. We may be connecting online through social media rather than handwritten letters, but the spirit and the result is the same: bringing the joys of gardening to as many people as possible.

Perfect consistent ideal temp, perfect moisture, top notch grow lights timed on/off as instructed but only 6 out of 10 germinated. They are lovely seedlings but I expected better a germination percentage.

All these seeds sprouted. I've been buying from Park Seed for decades and will continue in the future.

Took a bit to germinate to point of transplant but results were good.

Germinated well and quickly. I do use a heat mat which speeds up germination but these plants began popping up after about four days. Not sure why some seeds slower but after two weeks I have 28 out of 30 seeds germinated. That's a pretty solid rate

I planted 20 seeds. Half have been at 75F for 12 days. Only 1 sprouted, and the seed shell stuck on the growth tip and killed it. I planed the other half earlier and kept inside, but the temperature was below 70F. I raised the temp to 75F 12 days ago, and only 2 sprouted, and 1 of these had the same problem as the one mentioned above, and it died. So I got 1 good seedling out of 20 seeds. There is no date on the seed packet, only a lot number, BA20070004. Maybe these are seeds from 2007. They certainly are not good anymore.
